The witness was driving east out of Fort Scott, Kansas into Missouri at about 4 a.m. when a hair-covered bipedal figure ran across the road in front of the headlights in two or three steps and disappeared into forest. The witness noted a brief bad smell just after passing the crossing spot.

The witness and a companion were on foot scouting hunting ground in daylight when the witness noticed a large reddish-brown figure moving in the timber nearby. The witness saw only from the mid-shoulders up for a few seconds before turning toward the companion and looking back to find it gone. The companion did not see the figure but heard movement and footfalls, and a strong musky odor was noticed as the figure moved away.

Last summer the witness was kayaking down a creek around midday when rocks splashed near him. He looked toward the source and saw a creature kneeling like a person, which then stood, made eye contact for about 30 seconds, and ran through the woods. Two people had been fishing at Caesar Creek Lake and were packing up after sundown when a growling/hissing sound came from the treeline. They shone a flashlight into the woods and saw green eyes, heard trees and brush thrashing as something moved, and smelled a strong scat-like stench. After watching about five minutes they gathered gear and walked back to the parking area feeling watched.

After shouting and slowly backing uphill, the second witness also ran to the car and they drove to the house without ever seeing the source.

As she pulled alongside it, the figure turned its whole body, bent its head, and walked into dense brush where it disappeared. Afterward she noticed a strong rotten-egg/sulphur odor in her car that lasted about 10 minutes.

The witness was camping with companions in Big Cypress Preserve and walked to a parked Jeep to get a phone. About 15 feet into the woods he saw yellow human-like eyes at about his own eye level and smelled a strong skunk and wet-dog odor. Frightened, he returned to the campfire and later revisited the spot with a companion and spotlight but found nothing.

Several children playing outside exchanged yelps and whistles with an unseen source that sounded progressively closer, moving from the mountaintop to the woods' edge. When a boy took a hunting dog to the treeline, the dog stayed silent with raised tail and ears, stopped, and refused to advance. An adult also noted a foul smell during the few-minute interaction, after which the sounds stopped.

Four young people camped by a river in the mountains. During the day they found a very fresh opened deer carcass, returned to find their camp meticulously rummaged including an animal-proof cooler, and found a nearby large tent camp abandoned and dusty. Around 3 a.m. a huge heavy presence breathed deeply, smelled of wet animal and strong body odor, moved around the tents while the forest went silent, terrifying them until sunrise when they packed and left without speaking.

The witness was in bed late at night when barking dogs prompted them to go outside. They saw a dog run under the porch and something retreat into the woods. After shouting and tossing a small stone into the trees, the witness heard a shriek/howl and the stone was thrown back to land at their feet. The witness ran inside, then returned with a flashlight to find twisted vegetation and snapped branches and noted a foul smell.
