The witness was sitting on her patio at dusk when her dog growled and she heard loud footsteps. A tall upright creature stepped from behind a tree and stared at her from a short distance before four smaller individuals crossed the driveway on all fours and disappeared into the woods. She smelled strong body odor and later found only scuffs in the dry dirt.

While hiking alone about 12 miles out on a remote forested trail, the guest smelled a powerful foul odor, heard subtle branch breaks, and noticed total silence. He saw a tall hairy upper body with one arm peeking from behind a large tree, which then withdrew and vanished. About 100 feet farther the figure stepped fully onto the trail, stood looking at him, then turned back into the woods where the guest later found a small purple beaded bracelet placed on a sapling.

While caring for a neighbor's kenneled dogs, the witness saw all dogs suddenly look uphill and bolt into their houses. A strong foul odor was noticed at the same time. Even after food was put out, the dogs refused to come out and kept watching from the doorways.

The witness also noted an unusual odor and interpreted the sign as the creature hunting grouse.
