They saw a very tall hair-covered creature standing by a hitching post that only reached its knees. The companion fled uphill while the witness watched the creature walk away with long smooth strides into the trees, hearing light rustling as it moved uphill.

Two companions walking along a wooded driveway in the afternoon heard unidentified tapping sounds and entered the woods to investigate. They found freshly matted grass and a human-like bare footprint with five toes in dried mud. Shortly after, the companion shouted to run as loud timber-breaking crashes and movement occurred in dense undergrowth behind him. The reporter did not see the source, but the companion reportedly saw something about seven feet tall, after which both fled to the driveway.

A young pilot with two passengers flew a small Cessna from the Miami area toward the Bahamas and entered a tunnel-like cloud. The plane emerged over Cuba, landed on a road, took off again, and later crash-landed farther in the Bahamas. The pilot died but the two passengers survived to describe the tunnel and fog.

The witness was at a cabin in East Texas in the evening and went to her truck to get a wallet. As she grabbed the door handle the whole truck shook violently and she saw a huge dark mass hunched in the bed, taller than the cab. The mass flew silently across the road and railroad tracks while both she and her fiancé watched, and no tracks were found the next day.

Around 2 a.m. on a fall night in 1978, the witness and a relative went to the corral to check on panicked horses, suspecting a bear. They heard something crashing away into brush and found a corral-post tree snapped over with large human-like footprints around its base. They concluded the prints were not from a bear and later wiped them out while telling other family members it was a bear.

In 1977 the witness, an Army instructor at Fort Lewis, was alone grading trainees on a night exercise when he smelled a foul rotten-egg odor and heard brush rustling and branches breaking. He saw a pair of eyes staring at him as a creature moved left to right in front of him, then left the area, after which the odor and sounds stopped. He was frightened and hid, and a next-day search found no tracks.

The witness and a relative were fishing and camping in a narrow willow canyon at dusk and noticed unusual silence and a feeling of being watched. While sitting by a fire, the companion stared toward the road and the witness then saw a tall dark hairy face peering through willows about 30-40 feet away. The figure then crashed through the creek and willows up the hillside out of sight, after which the pair left hastily.

On a dark night in August 1977, the witness was walking back to hunting camp near two lakes when he stopped at a creek to find the trail. He heard a low growl, called out thinking it was companions, then heard a louder deeper growl/moan and vigorous thrashing and shaking of nearby bushes to his right. He jumped across the creek and ran to camp without seeing the source.

Late at night in summer 1977, the witness was driving a van with four companions back to camp when a tall bipedal figure crossed the road in front of them. Headlights illuminated its shape and eyes as it moved from a low area toward a mountain embankment. The driver stopped and searched the roadside with a light, heard movement in the brush but found no tracks, and later reported the incident to police.

Two brothers were gathering firewood near a lake at dusk when they heard heavy footsteps and crashing in dense brush. The writer saw the bushes shaking but no animal, while the brother, 10 to 15 feet away, saw a large dark-brown head moving rapidly above the brush. A young man and friends had two consecutive night encounters with an unknown creature
In February 1977 five youths camped in two VW buses at a remote, densely forested campground in the Trinity Alps. On two consecutive nights around 10:30 p.m., something rushed down the steep hill behind camp and violently rocked the bus the witness slept in. The first morning packs were found strewn and torn open; the second night a large boulder was found wedged behind the bus tire and the other bus had shifted about five feet toward the river. The group reported seeing nothing because windows were iced over, noting only hillside skid marks, rushing noises, and a brief strong odor before leaving early.

After pulling a pop-up camper into a lakeside clearing at sunset, the witness and his girlfriend noticed the woods go deathly silent. They then heard crashes, a cackle and growl, and something like a steamroller coming through the woods parting the treetops.
