Four college geology students camping at night heard howling from a canyon and then saw the outline of a huge bipedal animal on the road in moon and campfire light. When the animal approached, one student fired a rifle several times, after which it crossed the road and moved noisily up the opposite slope through brush. A responding deputy examined the area the next day and reported indistinct impressions, small pushed-over trees and long uphill strides, but no blood or fur.

She felt stared at and terrified and blocked the windows, then her husband hurried into the truck saying he had seen a whitish-gray thing about four feet high and five feet long moving on all fours as if gliding. Both remained scared in the truck without investigating.

The witness was scouting remote mountain roads for fishing access when he found a newly placed stacked rock pile blocking the road. After stopping to inspect it, he heard something charge down the steep slope toward him and stop when he drew his pistol, then parallel him back to his vehicle unseen. He returned later with a hunting partner and heard coordinated whoops from multiple positions, and a few days later with a larger group found extensive tree damage, possible structures, and three sizes of bare human-like tracks.

He noticed something staying still in the trees, shouted with no response, then saw a large dark mass moving through and violently shaking the trees. On the second day the log went underwater and resurfaced, then a wide dark orb-like mass moved from the log location in an S shape toward a relative on a float. While glassing with a companion days before elk season, the witness heard a loud cow-like calling Howl from a steep creek bottom. The sound moved to the ridge top in about five to ten minutes, far faster than he felt a person could climb. It stopped at the top and was not identified as elk or bear.

After he sat up and shouted, something large moved away through brush on two legs making loud leaf-crunching noise. No tracks were found with a flashlight, and the witness later concluded it was a Bigfoot.

The witness and a relative drove into a forested area near lava flows and walked a short distance down a trail to watch the sunset. They heard grunting and other sounds and noticed bushes moving as something appeared to follow them for about a quarter mile. Back at the car, something very close screamed and shook the bushes violently, frightening them into quickly driving away.
