Late at night three people walking on a gravel road smelled a strong foul odor. When they returned to the spot, a tall creature stood up from the roadside ditch, frightening them and causing them to flee. As they ran home they saw deer in a nearby cornfield and heard an extremely loud screeching-howling sound.

When the witness was young, the witness and a younger sibling were outside at night watching bats by the yard light. They heard a strange prolonged sound the witness now calls a howl. Nothing was thought of it until later summer events.
