Two men report powerful vocalizations behind neighborhood
Two people talking in a residential driveway at night heard an extremely loud, deep howl/growl/moan echo across the valley three times over about one to two minutes. Dogs in the area barked and the witness's dog then shivered and stared toward the hill behind the house before retreating to its doghouse. The witnesses felt frightened and said the sound was unlike known local wildlife. No source was seen and no further sounds were heard that night.

Three backpackers waited out a storm below tree line, then continued hiking out toward the trailhead near sunset. As they crossed a logged clearing they heard thrashing and a howl, then saw a massive dark biped run through brush about 60 yards away into the forest. After hearing another distant howl from the opposite direction, they left the area quickly.

The sound began like a low growl and rose to a high howling scream, repeating several times over an extended period while seeming to move farther away. The men, experienced in the woods, said it did not match known animals, and a search the next morning found no sign.
