Hikers spot a dark figure walking on a snowy mountainside near Winnemucca
The witness was exploring snowy mountain terrain with two relatives when a young relative pointed out a dark figure on a mountaintop. Shortly after their dog hid under a vehicle, the group heard a low howl and watched the figure move downhill. They left the area shaken, having also noticed a destroyed cow carcass on the way up.

About six months before the sightings, the father and the other son were on their driveway with a telescope when they heard very loud wailing or howling for about five minutes. It did not sound like local coyotes or dogs and could not be located by driving around. The sound was loud enough that others inside came out, and it was captured on a doorbell recording.
