Shortly after going to sleep in a large tall tent, he heard and felt heavy footsteps paired with growling approaching. He looked up through the open tent top and saw a very large face staring down at him that showed shock then anger and growled before stomping away through camp past another camper's van and down a trail.

The witness was camping with family when early-morning vocalizations described as growls leading to screams and whoops were heard repeating three times from a forested ravine. The family dog refused to leave camp and prolonged cracking of large downed branches was then heard for about ninety minutes without any animal being seen. After the cracking stopped abruptly, the dog investigated and normal animal sounds resumed.

After hearing heavy metal banging for several nights, the witness ran armed from his fifth-wheel to a 30x40 foot excavation pit. He confronted two 8-9 foot hair-covered beings on the far side and a 4-foot juvenile trapped in the 12-foot hole, while a 10-11 foot individual flanked near his truck. After a scream-roar and standoff where he lowered his aim off the juvenile, the adults retrieved the juvenile and withdrew silently to the treeline. He packed up, later had researchers trespass after his cousin told them, filled the hole, and sold the property.

The witness drove a companion by ATV to a high switchback at sunset so the companion could get phone reception, then stepped away to give privacy. Hearing a deep warning growl from a tree cluster between them, the witness drew a sidearm and moved to get between the companion and the sound. While doing so, the witness watched a very large, fast, hair-covered creature cross open growth to reach the trees, after which it went silent, and both left promptly.

The witness camped alone at Skyline Campground and hiked toward the wilderness. While setting up camp and hiking he felt a ground thump, heard repeated low growls and tree-knocking that seemed to mimic his own thumps, and found multiple footprints including a well-defined deep print. After the other campers left and the sounds resumed behind his site in the early evening, he left the area frightened.

On July 3 the witness was walking his loaded bicycle along Highway 242 west of Sisters in the early evening. From about 50 feet away in the woods he heard four evenly spaced wood-on-wood knocks, then saw a large bush shake and heard a low animal-like growl. He watched for about 30 seconds before walking away, with nothing further happening.

Moments later a baseball-sized rock landed where the witness had just been standing, with no visible source. The pair then heard loud wood-on-wood impacts first ahead on the hill and then behind them, which they could not explain. They reported no sighting, odor, or footprints, and nearby hikers with dogs showed no unusual reaction.

Two relatives camped alone at a riverside campground, one in a tent and one in a van. During the night they heard loud calling sounds from across the river and later heard movement around the campsite, including grunt-like sounds beside the van. The witness was scouting and watching six deer off Dutch Canyon road in the early morning. The deer looked east toward a treeline about 1000 meters away, then a loud scream rising into a moaning growl came from those woods and the deer fled west. The witness watched the treeline with binoculars for almost two hours but had no visual sighting.

The witness and several friends gathered for a nighttime bonfire at a secluded spot. After a distant howl earlier in the evening, an extremely loud combined growl-scream-roar erupted from very close behind trees. The group fled to a vehicle, waited, then extinguished the fire together and never returned.

He returned the next day to recover the flashlight and found only flattened grass with no footprints or hair.

A short time later they heard a second similar yell from close behind the kitchen. Unable to identify the sounds, they locked themselves in their truck and left leftover food behind.

The group later returned to the site and found unusual scat.

Two skateboarders riding ahead of their group heard a high scream then close low grunts off a paved bike trail. One crouched to look and saw a very hairy black bipedal animal crouched about 10 yards away that they had run past. The animal stood to about 6 to 7 feet tall, then ran upright into thick brush swinging its arms, moving very fast and loudly through deadfall before going silent. The pair fled to their companions and a later search of the dead brush found no tracks or sign.

After it left they found large human-like tracks with toes crossing a creek and in the woods, then abandoned the climb and skied out.
