After a companion fell asleep, the witness decided to walk home late at night along a road bordered by young planted trees. Something in the trees paced him from the side, stopping when he stopped and continuing when he walked. When he tried to look larger and shouted, he heard deep grunts and saw two small trees shake vigorously. He called a nearby friend for a ride and kept shouting until he was picked up.

The witness reported being on Pigeon Mountain on the night of September 27, 2011, when he heard a deep growl followed by a long mellow scream unlike familiar local animals. A saltwater hauler working after midnight at an oil-field tank site reported seeing glowing red eyes above a 9-10 foot fence during an unusually quiet period with a skunk-like odor and a low growl. The figure moved out of view and then threw about five tennis-ball-sized rocks toward the storage tanks, with two striking the nearest tank. The witness felt intimidated and left the site, returning the following night to look for the rocks.

The witness walked a narrow tractor trail at night to check a hog trap while a companion waited in the car. He heard footsteps, a deep rumbling growl, and smelled an intensely foul odor, then sensed something following and stopping behind him. The companion turned on headlights and saw a very tall, black-haired biped standing close behind him making threatening fist and foot displays. The creature crashed away through brush when lights flashed, and the witness abandoned his equipment and never returned.

A tow truck driver was loading a car that had struck an elk late at night when he heard a deep grunt. He shone a light and saw an upright creature dragging the dead elk one-handed by the antlers through deep snow into a drainage. The creature looked at him, continued dragging the elk about 100 feet, and disappeared from view after about 15 seconds.

The witness and his son were deer hunting from a blind in darkness before dawn. After the son woke the sleeping witness, they heard something large moving fast through brush behind the blind. After watching it for several seconds as it walked away, the group left the campsite.

They never saw the source, reported no departing footsteps, and described a persistent feeling of being watched and warned from entering the woods.

Three people went into woods near Westport at night to try tree-knocking to elicit a response. After each of their three knocks they heard distinct return knocks from across the lake, first from the west and then from the east. They also heard movement in the treeline, a low growl heard by a companion, and three distant howls they judged unlike dog or coyote. They left after about 30 minutes.

The witness and two companions were scouting for deer season by a creek near a cedar swamp when they heard an unfamiliar low growl. After the witness threw stones toward the sound, they saw a dark upright shadow moving at the swamp edge and rocks were thrown back toward them. Hearing further growls and large branches breaking, the group left quickly for their vehicle.

House cats reacted defensively during the sounds, which lasted a couple minutes before everything went quiet.
