The witness and friends camped at a favorite ridge site between two ponds and were awakened by loud splashes. Later something circled the tent sniffing closely and gave a deep snarl near the witness's head. Both tent occupants stayed frozen until it left, found no tracks in the morning, and never returned.

The witness was sleeping in a camper parked by the woods on a relative's property when loud breathing and screaming circled the camper for many minutes. The witness's father stepped outside with a flashlight and the sound seemed to come from the woods and echo for miles. Next morning they found a nearby tree branch freshly stripped of bark.

The witness and a friend were fishing along a wooded river gorge and noticed a rotten musky urine odor. While hiking and fishing back downstream they heard shuffling and footsteps in leaves. The witness felt watched, turned toward the sounds, then heard a deep guttural growl that felt physical in the chest and backed toward the river while the friend ran ahead.

On an earlier night visit to the swampy back side of the same ridge, two researchers sat on ATVs with engines off. They heard an extremely deep low guttural growl from dense foliage and quickly left the area.

Years later the guest was deer hunting on a farm bordering public land. After shooting a buck and leaving to retrieve an ATV, he returned to find the carcass gone and dragged toward dense pines. He saw a very tall hairy figure and a long arm pulling the deer into the thicket while two other figures moved nearby and vocalized, so he fired a pistol and fled on the ATV.

The witness was camping with a friend and the friend's parent and walked to a pond after midnight. From woods across the water came a blood-curdling scream lasting seconds, then after silence a second scream that turned into a deep roar. No movement or footsteps were heard and they went back to bed.
