While tent camping with a friend and three children after working on deer plots, the guest heard a loud territorial scream-growl about 50 yards away, then again about 15 yards away. The group stayed by the fire in the tent, frightened, and the sound was described as angry and unnerving.

A hunter sitting in a box stand heard rustling behind him and saw hands part bushes with a hairy man-like face looking up and grunting. He jumped from the stand without using steps and ran across the field to his truck. He was so shaken he reportedly never hunted again.
