Camper experiences possible aggressive night time display west of Bragg Creek
A solo camper spent the night on a plateau west of Bragg Creek during rain and thunderstorms. Through the night the camper heard log-banging, close movement, breathing, branch breaking, a tarp strike, a grunt, a boulder throw and a tree being pushed over, and glimpsed an upright figure walking downhill toward a creek. At dawn the camper heard loud bird-like calls from multiple directions, and found large grass impressions the next morning.

The witness and a companion were backpacking and bushwhacking toward a fire road in the evening. After hearing a strange whistle and footsteps near a stream, they stopped in a meadow. Each then watched a separate upright, two-legged creature cross the area, one dark and one dirty-white, before the pair left quickly for the fire road.

In the afternoon after swimming, the witness ran ahead of the group on a winding trail back toward the campsite. Stopped by a strong foul odor, the witness noticed a large dark furry creature sitting among berry bushes a short distance away. The creature stayed motionless and made a quiet chattering sound, after which the witness ran away while hearing it crash away through the trees. No one else in the group saw or heard the creature.

On a prior occasion the witness, resting alone in a trailer outside a relative's house, heard heavy crashing and footsteps with repeated screams and a second distant voice answering before fleeing inside at daylight.

The witness was camping with a youth adventure group beside a stream. He woke in the dark to heavy splashes in the water followed by two heavy thumps on land that he felt as a tremor. All the campers woke, instructors looked around, but nothing else was heard or seen that night.

A research group camped at a remote river location and stayed up late around a fire to invite attention. On about the fifth night whistling calls, heavy movement through brush, and a loud branch break approached camp. The witness watched through a night-vision monocular as a large silhouette crossed a road with a smooth gliding gait, and the group later found disturbed ground and footprints that were tracked for about a mile.
