Footsteps (1976)
The witness was camping with family and friends in a U-shaped camp and sleeping alone in a tent against a tree. Late at night under a full moon the witness heard heavy bipedal steps on gravel and rocks and rock-on-rock hitting in threes. Something large and hairy on two feet passed behind the tent in shadow, and the witness screamed until a parent came out.

The witness had carried fishing gear to a creek and walked back to the parked car for more equipment when footsteps in the woods stopped. He turned toward the sound and saw a tall hair-covered figure at the woods edge pushing a branch aside. He called to two companions at the fishing spot, and when he looked back the figure was gone as loud footfalls moved rapidly away through the woods.

Two witnesses were paddling a rowboat along a brushy creek at night to check limb lines. They heard something moving with them in the dense brush along the bank. A large rock was thrown downward and landed in the water in front of their boat, after which they left the area.
Memory told of a possible encounter while coon hunting near Houston
On a moonlit night in late October 1975, the witness was coon hunting along a ridge when both dogs became frightened and stayed by him. He heard a low moaning sound, a rock-throw-like crash into a brush pile, two tree-strike-like impacts, and something moving through leaves down a steep wooded slope. He called out but saw nothing and ended the hunt.
Nighttime sighting by teens, near Meridian
Three teenagers stopped at night on a dirt road near a one-lane bridge to relieve themselves. They heard repeated grunting and growling from an oak tree with a thrashing limb, then watched a large hairy biped drop into a ditch and run through the car's high-beam illumination. It leapt off the bridge bank out of sight while its footsteps were heard continuing south, after which the group fled in the car.
Recollection of a twilight encounter on Lake Keowee
While walking in a remote forested area near a lake at twilight, the witness saw a large reddish figure cross a dirt road and enter dense forest. The figure reportedly noticed the witness, then ran uphill paralleling the road while emitting a loud distress-like scream with heavy footfalls. The frightened witness fled the area.
Late night encounter by young campers in Maple Valley Wa
A youth camping group spent the night in a clearing near dense blackberry brush. Late at night the reporter and companions heard movement approaching through the brush, then retreated to sleeping bags. Overnight two unseen creatures reportedly entered camp, vocalized softly, disturbed food supplies, and stepped on and touched one sleeping girl who remained awake while others slept. At dawn no footprints were found on dry ground.
Late evening sighting north of Bear Valley
The witness's grandfather was collecting ore samples at night when he heard heavy human-like footsteps moving around him in the snow. He then saw a large dark shape about 40 feet away. Frightened, he ran to his three-wheeler and fired a shot toward where the shape had been after it disappeared.

When the guest grew up in rural northeast Louisiana, his uncle and cousins on an Arkansas cabin camping trip saw what looked like a person peeking in a window. Two of them grabbed guns, chased it, and failed to catch it. They concluded it was Bigfoot because of its speed and its breaking of limbs and logs no human could break.

The witness had been sleeping in the back of his pickup at a secluded clearing after a late work shift. He heard loud, strange voices approaching rapidly through dense brush, smelled a strong foul odor, and sensed something large vault over the truck. He then saw a large dark shape moving away into the treeline while vocalizing, then drove away.

Two boys walked from their houses into nearby woods toward a creekbed to shoot BB guns while footsteps seemed to parallel them and close to nearby. At the bottom of the creekbed they looked toward the sounds and saw a roughly seven-foot-tall hair-covered figure whose face they could not discern. Both fled home in fear and said the figure did not follow them.

The guest's grandparents noticed meat and vegetables disappearing from an outdoor wash house over several days. One night the family smelled a strong musky odor in the living room, and the grandmother saw a large hairy figure squatted outside a picture window. The guest's father chased it as it hopped yard fences, snapped a railroad-tie post, and disappeared over a hill. For about a week afterward the grandmother heard something tampering with the wash-house door at night.

On the third night of a three-day series, the witness walked home across a field after dark and heard footsteps converging to intercept him, smelled a strong foul odor, and sensed something pass very close unseen. From his illuminated backyard he then saw a tall, dark-haired bipedal figure standing by a clothesline pole about 40-50 feet away, staring at him for about 20 seconds before he ran inside.

The witness and at least one other person parked on a dirt road near a stream at night. They heard sloshing in the water and later saw a large figure run across the road ahead of the headlights and heard heavy steps in sagebrush. Using a spotlight they glimpsed a tall dark primate-like figure cross in front of a large boulder and enter dense timber.
Possible late night campsite intrusion in the Ocala National Forest
As a teenager camping with relatives in Ocala National Forest, the witness slept apart in a sleeping bag on the ground. After falling asleep, the witness awoke to bipedal footsteps entering the camp and heavy breathing with deep sniffs very close to the head. The witness lay still in terror, sensing the intruder watching, until it left silently and normal night sounds resumed. Nothing was seen or smelled, and no tracks were checked.

While tracking a wounded buck down the mountain at dusk, the witness heard parallel movement with breaking limbs, rustling leaves, a grunt and a growl. The sounds mirrored the witness's own stops and starts and at times fell silent. The witness fled through a briar patch to a truck, heard grunting again behind, and never saw the source.
Sighting and other observations along the Niobrara River
In fall 1974 the witness was bowhunting and driving along the Niobrara River when he stopped to check a ravine. He saw a tall coal-colored hairy creature about 40 to 50 feet away watching him for about two seconds before it turned and ran south up the ravine on two feet. He stayed parked a few minutes afterward and initially told no one.
Two young men have a face to face encounter
The witness and his cousin heard noises outside the house for about 20 minutes and went into the backyard with a flashlight. They saw a tall hair-covered figure standing just beyond a six-foot fence staring at them. After a few seconds they ran back inside frightened. The next morning they found two deep impressions in the sandy soil beyond the fence.
Bicycling student has night encounter
Late at night the witness stopped under a streetlight while biking back to school to fix a brake. He heard loud bipedal footsteps approaching, then saw a white-haired gorilla-like creature about 20-25 feet away. The creature chased him briefly, moving bipedally and on its knuckles, before stopping, swaying, and climbing over a rock wall. The witness rode to a nearby house and waited until morning.
A camper reports a foul odor and unusual sounds at 2:30 am, then finds numerous tracks at day break
The witness was sleeping at a sandy riverside camp when dogs barked then became frightened and quiet. With eyes kept shut, the witness heard something walking in the water, noticed a strong urine-like odor, and felt something brush their hair during an encounter lasting several minutes. At daybreak, very large foot-like indentations were found in dry and wet sand around the sleeping area, campfire and tent.
