Nighttime sighting by a man walking his dog in a subdivision next to the Ocala National Forest
The witness was walking a dog at the dark end of a subdivision backing to forest when the dog reacted to a large crouched figure nearby. The witness shouted warnings and shined a flashlight, seeing reflective eyeshine and a hair-covered, ape-like form. The figure then stood to great height and walked away behind trees, and the witness left the area with the dog.

Around 1:55 a.m. the witness stepped outside to smoke and heard the chain-link fence rattle and brush breaking. Under a nearby security light she saw a large hairy creature straddling the fence; it turned, made eye contact, then swung its leg back over and dropped into the woods. She woke her daughter and both heard movement and smelled a foul odor, later finding the fence top bent and branches broken.

Two hunters sat in a blind when the woods went quiet and they heard crashing, bipedal footsteps, a loud crash and a deep howl. After waiting until dark, they left and walked toward their boat. When one turned around he saw eye shine several feet off the ground behind them, which then turned away.

After their boat motor failed, two companions camped overnight by a campfire on the riverbank. Around midnight they heard something approaching through the woods, followed by loud growling, grunting, stomping and tree knocks. One of them shone a light across the narrow river and saw a head, shoulder and red eyes looking back before it retreated, continuing noise for over an hour. They left at first light and were later towed back to the landing.

Two companions were driving at night in a doorless vehicle when they made a wrong turn onto a dead-end road. As they turned around, the passenger alerted the driver to eyeshine behind a large tree caught in the headlights. The driver then saw large eyes about six feet off the ground and a large brown shape behind the tree. Both were frightened and did not get a prolonged look.

The witness was camping with companions in Big Cypress Preserve and walked to a parked Jeep to get a phone. About 15 feet into the woods he saw yellow human-like eyes at about his own eye level and smelled a strong skunk and wet-dog odor. Frightened, he returned to the campfire and later revisited the spot with a companion and spotlight but found nothing.

The witness was driving home from work at night and turned onto a road in Middleburg. Her headlights illuminated two large gray-haired creatures just off the road near a speed-limit sign. One appeared crouched making rapid arm movements over its lap while the other stood watching, and both looked toward her car with red eyeshine before she drove away frightened.

The witness was driving at night when headlights caught eye-shine at the edge of woods by a road curve. A tall hair-covered biped that had been walking out of the tree line stopped, stepped back into the brush, and watched the stopped car for about a minute to a minute and a half. Two companions were night-fishing in a remote wooded area when they noticed persistent eyeshine watching them from a trail for an extended period. After the eyes disappeared, they heard a very loud, deep growl from directly behind them. They fled to their truck, honked and lit the area, then quickly recovered their gear and left.

Three youths riding in the back of a pickup while spotlighting for deer saw a tall hair-covered figure standing off the road in trees. The spotlight lit it for a second or two, then the truck backed up and the figure was gone. The witnesses noticed a foul sour odor, became scared, and left the area.

The witness and two companions were driving on a dirt road at night using a spotlight to look for deer, with the witness sitting in the truck bed holding the light. The witness illuminated a huge bear-like figure with red eyes at the edge of the woods and estimated its height at about 6 feet 5 inches to 7 feet. The witness quickly climbed into the truck cab through the rear window. A companion on the same side of the truck also saw the figure.

While on night patrol, the witness responded to a companion's report of something standing by trees behind a building and shone a spotlight into the woods. A very large upright hairy creature holding a branch was seen, which then dropped the branch, looked back with red eyeshine, screamed, and ran away with a strong odor left behind. The witnesses later found a large pine branch torn from about nine feet up.

While rounding a curve, the headlights illuminated a tall dark human-like figure by a fence that appeared to look toward the car with red reflective eyes, causing intense fear. The witness later wondered what the occupants of the other car had seen.

In summer 1993, a five-year-old child went to the back bedroom of a raised mobile home to get toys from a chest. Upon sitting up, the child saw a pair of piercing red eyes in the middle of the bedroom window and stared before running to report it. The family suggested a neighboring dog, but the witness maintains the eyes were too high for a dog and too close to be an owl or perched animal.

With headlights and then high beams on, they watched it for a couple of minutes as it stood and moved its head from side to side. The witness and three companions parked on a remote logging road near water late at night. He noticed a bright green eyeshine rising silently to about his eye level. After maneuvering the car to shine headlights on the area, he saw a tall camouflage-patterned bipedal creature standing motionless eight feet away, with one eye destroyed by a recent wound, which explained seeing only one eyeshine. The creature stared, then stepped toward the ditch as the group fled in panic.

The crew was camped on the bank of Blackwater Creek eating dinner when a splash revealed their cooler in the creek was missing. Shortly after, a companion returned shaken saying something had watched him from across the creek. The witness shone a spotlight across the narrow creek and the group saw a large hair-covered biped stand up, its eyes shining, block the light with its forearm, vocalize, and flee. The men then left for a motel for the remainder of the job.

Two teenage stepbrothers were driving a Jeep at night shining for deer. They spotted large eyeshine and a huge hair-covered body about 20 yards away. The passenger shot twice with a .30-30, the first shot appeared to drop it, then a second creature approached from the side and they fled. They returned the next day and found no blood or body.

They observed a pair of eyes estimated about 7 to 8 feet off the ground and about a foot apart from roughly 150 feet away. As they left they heard an extremely loud piercing scream and drove away quickly without later searching for sign.
