Looking out the open door toward a clearcut bordered by alders, the boy saw a tall upright brown-black animal emerge, take several steps, pause to look at the van, then return to cover. He described it as walking on two legs and swinging its arms, seeing it from the waist up.

A tow truck driver was loading a car that had struck an elk late at night when he heard a deep grunt. He shone a light and saw an upright creature dragging the dead elk one-handed by the antlers through deep snow into a drainage. The creature looked at him, continued dragging the elk about 100 feet, and disappeared from view after about 15 seconds.
