The witness was walking alone along a sandy creek in the woods after a storm. He came around a bend and saw a jet-black, bear-sized figure bent over a deer, pulling it apart with arms. The figure stood up to about seven feet tall with its back to him, and he fled home without telling anyone.

The witness and two relatives riding in the back of an open pickup late at night saw a large dark-furred animal crouched in weeds beside the road. As the truck passed, the animal stood upright on its hind legs, its eyes shining green in the headlights. The driver did not see it and no search for tracks was made.

Two girls were walking in woods near home looking for a tree to climb when they encountered an upright beige-haired gorilla-like creature in a clearing. The creature first appeared bent over, then straightened and seemed to notice them, causing both girls to run home and immediately tell a parent. About two weeks later the same three men returned to a nearby picnic ground on the same river to night fish again. They heard rustling like small animals in leaves that seemed to circle them, followed by unintelligible whisper-like voices that felt very close and could not be located. Feeling the same intense fear as before, they stood back-to-back with firearms then withdrew to their car and left the gear, later learning from a ranger that the bend was where drowned bodies were recovered.
