A driver stopped to help two motorists whose car had left the road after swerving to avoid a large hairy creature chasing a deer across the road. While fetching a rope from his truck to pull their car out, he walked directly into the creature standing behind his truck. He noted a foul smell, red eyes, and a low growl before it walked to the woods edge and then into the woods. He then helped move the car and continued his trip, shaken by the encounter.

Around mid-summer 1981, the witness was riding a bicycle home in the early morning hours ahead of a companion. Near an intersection he looked back and saw a whitish object moving quickly from one side of a barbed-wire fence to the other into woods, knocking branches aside.
