Strange vocalizations heard in the Markdale area
The witness and one companion stood outside a rural house late at night and listened to distant, loud, high-pitched screams or mournful moans for about half an hour. The sounds faded in and out, at times requiring straining to hear, before growing fainter and stopping. Neither person recognized the sound as any known animal or human, and later comparisons by the witness pointed only to purported Sasquatch recordings.

The witness and a relative were fishing by trolling from a small boat in a bay with thick forest around it. From about 40 metres away on the shore they saw a brown humanoid scoop water into its mouth with its hand. The creature looked at them and then walked away.

The witness was a passenger in a truck traveling on the Trans-Canada Highway at night en route to a moose-hunting trip. A tall, dark-haired biped came out of the north ditch and ran across the two-lane road in front of the vehicle, turning to look at the occupants before continuing into the ditch and treeline on the south side. The driver reacted with surprise at the time but has since said he saw nothing. The whole crossing reportedly took about 10 seconds.
Morning encounter with a moose hunter in northern Ontario
While hunting moose by ATV the witness stopped on a trail for a snack while a companion rode ahead to scout. After hearing brush movement and heavy footsteps, the witness saw a tall, muscular, dark-haired biped step onto the trail, look toward the companion's direction and then at the witness, sniff and grunt, then walk silently across a meadow into thick brush. After the companion returned they found only indistinct marks and disturbed vegetation, then heard a single loud crack like wood being struck and fled the area.

The witness rode as a passenger in a car with four companions on a dark two-lane highway and encountered an animal standing on the road. The driver stopped within a few feet and the occupants watched it move quadrupedally to the road edge, sit, and hesitate as if to flee. They then drove slowly past it within a couple feet, after which it was gone when looked for behind them.

The witness and her husband paddled by canoe from a creek into a lake for a routine fishing trip. Near the lake opening they heard a loud hollow yell or scream from the far end and felt watched, moving into a nearby bay out of sight. In the bay they encountered a heavy overpowering unfamiliar odor and then left without fishing, paddling quickly back to their vehicle. They did not discuss it until after driving away, and the witness told no one else for almost 10 years.

In late afternoon in September 1986 the witness was rabbit hunting and walking home on a regular trail when a strong foul odor was noticed. From about 12 yards away the witness watched for about 10 minutes as a large hair-covered creature sat cross-legged in a blueberry patch eating berries with its hands. As darkness approached the witness revealed himself, and the creature stood without using its hands and calmly walked away into the brush.

In early July 1986 in the evening, a fishing guide motoring clients by boat toward a narrow rocky passage on Deer Lake saw a tall black-furred biped run and leap across the narrows into forest. The clients did not see it but heard branches breaking as it moved away, and the guide shut off the engine to listen until the sound faded. The guide later reasoned the size, bipedal run, swinging arms and lack of snout did not match a local black bear. A next-morning search found no footprints on the rocky shore.

In 1984, the witness and a relative were driving slowly on a dirt road west of Ottawa at night to find a spot to set up a telescope. After the relative reported feeling uneasy and shouted, the witness saw a tall, dark, hairy primate-like figure approaching the vehicle. The witness panicked and reversed away at high speed for about a mile.

The witness and a relative were walking home after skating when the witness noticed movement and a large brown shape in the bushes at a distance. Near a path fork, the witness found a very large human-like footprint in snow that appeared to lead toward where the shape had been seen. The witness, then a child sleeping in a cabin, claims to have been awakened around 2 a.m. by a deep sneeze-like sound and a strong foul odor. A very large monkey-like head peered into the bedroom window, blocking the light, with huge eyes, a large flat nose, little facial hair and deep nasal breathing. The witness whimpered, the mother entered and the figure left; in the morning plowed vegetation and footprints were reportedly seen.

In July 1978 the witness and a companion were driving at night when an animal ran across the road in front of their car, forcing a sudden brake and swerve to avoid hitting it. They watched it turn to look toward them before it ran into the forest. She later described it as a tall, blackish, hairy animal with a broad muscular build and large head.

The figure appeared to watch and breathe loudly, moving slightly when the witness moved, then turned and left. The witness ran to a parent, who went outside, saw nothing but noticed a strong smell. By morning two pet rabbits kept outside were gone, with no damage to the cage.

As an 11-year-old lying alone in bed at the family island cottage, the witness felt watched from the windows behind her. She turned to see a large round head looking in through an open casement window. The head quickly ducked down and audibly struck the window pane, after which she ran to the adults, who dismissed the incident as a dream.

Two giant black beasts emerged fighting, tumbling down the bank into shallow water, slapping, grappling and biting. The witness saw a tall fur-covered figure standing at the treeline atop an embankment, then watched it walk down on its hind legs to the edge of the road as the car slowed for a stop sign ahead. At about age 11, the witness was walking alone to a restaurant hangout around midday in winter when he noticed very large bare footprints with distinct toes in the snow of a vacant field. The prints formed a long stride and ran southwest across the entire field. He did not see the maker and did not report it at the time because of his young age.
