Near his car he noticed a broad, roughly 8-foot-tall bipedal form standing about 35 yards away behind dense cover, which he believed had followed him. He left with a handgun ready and avoided hunting the swamp for several years.

The witness, then a young teenager staying at a migrant apple-picking camp, stepped outside in the evening and saw a very large gray figure walking near a bare hill and orchard tree line toward the highway. The figure was described as thick, hunchbacked, and much taller than a man, moving unlike a man. The witness told no one at the time and now states a belief that such creatures exist.

Late at night the witness was reading in bed with the window open when the window screen flew into the middle of the room. The witness then saw a large hairy arm reaching in through the window. After freezing for a couple of minutes, the witness ran past the window to get help, and a parent found no one outside.

She and others hear footsteps pacing them along the tree line, loud crashing movement, screeching sounds and cracking noises, often accompanied by a strange smell. An investigator later visited, interviewed family members and noted unusual stick and vegetation features in the woods.

When the witness was about nine, she was walking with an older neighbor girl in the back portion of family property. Something nearby growled loudly at them, and after they walked about 200 feet into the front pasture it growled and shrieked again. The witness never learned what the companion may have seen, and the companion never walked there with her again.

In the late 1960s, the witness was stationed at a fence corner during a family deer drive on fenced farm land. He reported seeing a large hairy figure step over a four-foot barbed-wire fence from the west and then over a second fence to the north. The rest of the hunting party later emerged from the woods behind it, and the witness maintained the same account into adulthood.

The witness was mountain biking on a game trail in thick forest when he stopped in a clear-cut opening to repair a flat front tire. A loud thump came from a burnt-out RV about 50-60 yards away, and he saw a large jet-black furred head appear in a broken window about six feet off the ground. The head tilted slowly to the side as he remounted his bike, and he rode back to his cabin using GPS. He reported smelling a pungent odor at the site and again outside his cabin the next morning, which he interpreted as the animal having followed him.

As children playing in a cedar swamp, the witness and two friends surprised a roughly six-foot, rusty-brown-haired creature sitting by a creek. They watched for about ten seconds as it stood about 70 feet away and walked gracefully deeper into the swamp. A driver and passenger stopped on a dirt road through woods when several large dogs crossed in front of the car and trotted toward a dark object in a field. The object stood up as a very tall, bulky, dark-gray hair-covered figure with long arms and no visible neck, which the dogs greeted excitedly. The figure then moved quickly into the adjacent woods with long bent-legged strides and exaggerated arm swings while both occupants watched in shock without speaking.

A search of the immediate woods the next morning found nothing unusual.

The witness was in a garage when the dog barked frantically and then hid in its doghouse. The witness then heard heavy running like a galloping horse and felt vibrations, and saw a large bulky humanoid with reddish-brown hair running through a cornfield. The figure glanced briefly, pushed through the corn with swinging arms, attempted to jump an irrigation ditch but fell short, then disappeared into brush.

On a winter evening around 10 p.m., the witness opened the door to let a dog out and heard an immense scream-howl from just north of the house. The sound felt like a physical impact and frightened the dog so it would not go outside. The witness's mother also heard the vocalization from inside the house.

The animal moved quickly away, then stood and moved on two legs with long arms swinging before walking into distant woods. Mushroom hunters find series of large footprints near Ste. Marie
The witness and a companion were mushroom hunting when they found about ten barefoot-like prints crossing a muddy stretch of a mostly dry creek. The prints appeared to enter from water on one side and exit into water on the other, heading east toward a nearby river. The witness felt no barefoot person should have been in that remote bottoms area and no photos were taken before rain.
