He whistled twice thinking it was another hunter but received no response and concluded it was not a man. The witness swept a light across the road and saw a dark broad figure step into the trail about 10 feet away and stand looking at them. The witness returned at dusk to check catfish lines on a river on a relative's land after hunting. The witness was riding a horse home late on a dirt road after losing track of time. The horse became agitated while crossing a plank bridge. The witness then saw two large erect creatures side by side about 35 yards away in a meadow opening, swaying as if scenting. The witness galloped home and looked back to see the pair walking erect into the woods.

The witness and a companion were hiking in upland terrain when they separated on opposite sides of a draw. The witness heard a loud crash and rapid thudding sounds, then saw a tall hairy figure running toward the companion from several hundred yards away. After shouting warnings and a shotgun shot, the figure reversed direction and left, and both hikers departed quickly.

The witness, then working at a gun club picking up clay targets, came through tall brush into a clearing and saw a large hairy figure standing behind a tree about 60 feet away. The witness was heading inside for supper when a dog barked toward the river. The witness saw a large shaggy upright creature about 100 yards away running toward the river, which stopped, faced the witness, and gave a loud high-pitched scream described as roar-like. A strong rotten-fish odor was noticed, and the witness fled inside with the dog.

In 1976 the witness was riding a motorcycle alone on a dirt trail after leaving friends who were jumping a ditch. He stopped after glimpsing what he thought was another motorcycle moving through trees to the south. The object proved to be a tall white-haired biped that stopped about 25 yards away on the trail, faced and snarled at him before walking south again, after which he fled back to his friends.

The witness was driving to work on a county road when he noticed a large dark figure in an empty hayfield. On approaching closer, the figure looked human-shaped, very tall, and covered in black hair. The creature noticed the vehicle and moved quickly toward cover at a nearby creek. The witness later returned to the site with a relative to look for traces but found nothing.
Campers hear a vocalization near Tenaya Lake
A group camping by a lake at night heard animal sounds go quiet followed by a very loud vocalization that rose from low to a high shrill pitch. Other campers from near the mountain came down the trail with their gear to leave, saying the scream had been right by them and they had seen something run toward and past the witness camp. The witness group did not see anything but noticed a strong dirty or wet dog smell after leaving their tents and waited until daylight to leave.
Varmint hunter has a night encounter with a large animal
While night hunting with a dying-rabbit call, the witness heard extremely loud, threatening screams from an unseen animal on a ridge. The animal screamed three times while moving to get downwind of the witness. The witness used a powerful hunting light and reported catching its glowing eyes, and described being truly frightened.

The guest drove into an unmowed field off Abair Road after midnight with a trooper in another field and waited. After tree-breaking sounds and the trooper fleeing, a large hairy upright creature approached to about 30 feet, vocalized intensely, then turned and walked away across the field into the woods.

The witness and spouse were drifting down the Missouri River behind fishing jugs with the motor off when they spotted a dark hairy figure drinking at the water's edge. As they drifted to within about 50 feet it stood on two legs, noticed them, and walked into the nearby woods. After it disappeared they heard trees being knocked down for about a minute and noticed a wet musky odor.

A tall silhouette about 75 feet away rose above the corn and stared at the witness for about 30 seconds before the witness ran inside and locked the doors. The next day the witness found scuff marks, a path through the corn, and stalks with missing corn but no clear prints.

While camping with family, the witness walked up a wooded hill by cabins to collect insects late in the morning. After noticing a musty rotting-grass smell, the witness saw a large upright hair-covered figure off the path that turned and looked in her direction. The witness froze, then ran back down to camp and did not report the event to family at the time.

At age six the witness was outside with a relative in late summer 1976 in Canyon City and watched a hair-covered figure standing on a hill across the road backlit by the setting sun for about a minute. The figure then turned and walked away out of sight. The witness ran inside to tell family, and parents later found large footprints on the hill.

The witness and companions were parked late at night at a cul-de-sac off Fitzsimmons Road. They heard successive sets of loud wood-on-wood knocks that sounded progressively closer, from a few hundred yards away to within tens of yards. Frightened as the sounds approached without any visible source or movement noise, they fled in their truck without seeing what made the sounds.
Someone or something walks by house and peers from around a tree
As a child the witness was at home at night with siblings and a cousin when the doorbell rang repeatedly with no one there. An older brother became hysterical after seeing something peeking from behind a tree and gesturing, and later a neighbor arrived saying something had followed him in the woods. Two older girls then saw a dark form at the bottom of a trail that moved and had red eyes, and also something with a cone-shaped head peeking around a garage, and the younger children later saw a large figure pass by a window.
