Sasquatch sighting in Missouri (1977)
The witness was sleeping in a tent with a cousin at a scout camp when waking late at night to sounds at the central table. From the tent flap the witness watched a tall broad ape-like creature pry open the troop food box and eat bread and donuts. After another boy shouted bear, the creature stood upright, tore down the tarp, vocalized, then walked quickly between the tents into the woods.

In summer 1977 the witness and a companion were backpacking and camped at a trail junction near a creek in forested mountain country. In the middle of the night they were awakened by loud crashing of logs and rocks being hurled in the streambed below. Bipedal footsteps then approached up the slope to behind nearby trees, with heavy breathing heard high in the air and a humph sound after the witness shouted, before the creature walked away parallel to the creek.

The sounds lasted about 30 seconds and were interpreted as a biped moving quickly, apparently pursued by barking dogs. After the crashing stopped, a dog was heard yelping as if badly injured, then silence fell. The next morning the witness found broken vegetation but no clear sign of its cause and moved camp.

After headlights showed nothing, the odor and sense of unease lifted and the family returned to the tent for the night before breaking camp the next day.

Four college geology students camping at night heard howling from a canyon and then saw the outline of a huge bipedal animal on the road in moon and campfire light. When the animal approached, one student fired a rifle several times, after which it crossed the road and moved noisily up the opposite slope through brush. He heard dogs chasing something across the river and watched a large dark hairy biped run and leap over a fallen log while the dogs pursued it. At about age 12, the witness and a companion were hunting raccoons at night along a creek. They noticed a strong foul odor and heard a large splash as if someone fell into the water. When they reached the spot no one was visible and only disturbed murky water remained. A few days later a flood fence in the area was found torn up.

Four deer hunters stopped at a relative's ranch for lunch and fed hogs when horses in a back pasture became highly agitated for about 30 minutes. They found very large, deep tracks circling the pasture with a strong wet-dog and rotten-egg odor still present. They followed the bipedal trackway to a very steep hill where the steps ascended out of reach, tried and failed to replicate the stride and step-up, then left without ever seeing the maker.
