Encounter near Sulphur River not far from Sulphur Springs

The witness walked down a creek bed on family land and stopped on the return uphill. The witness heard repeated high-pitched screams, first from thick woods ahead and later from behind. The witness saw a patch of dark fur by a tree and later the outline of a large head crouched behind a bush about 20 yards away. Frightened, the witness left quickly for the car without seeing the source again.

Two geologists driving at night toward Yellowstone saw a large upright shaggy figure in their high beams as it climbed from a roadside ditch. The figure glanced at the vehicle, then crossed the highway in a few long strides, grasped the guardrail, and descended into a culvert out of sight. The witnesses stopped briefly then drove on to the park entrance, waiting until morning to compare independent written accounts.

Most were roughly boot-length but wider and over an inch deep, with a second deformed variant and a larger unclear print leading toward a cliff. The reporter and three companions spent about half an hour on an observation tower, where the reporter heard loud clicking and short high-pitched screams and noticed an absence of birds. While driving out of the refuge minutes later, the reporter and the front-seat companion watched a huge, very wide, all-black upright figure cross the wide road in about three steps and disappear into dense brush. The companions in the back seat did not see it, and a brief stop found only a disturbed path through the brush where it had entered.

In 1978 two people were fishing from a boat on a lake at dusk and stopped in a cove. They heard grunting and saw trees shaking violently on a brushy cliff, but saw no animal. Two large rocks were thrown from shore toward the boat, landing very close, prompting them to leave.

While mushroom hunting with a child near a creek, the witness noticed movement behind a tree across the creek and then saw part of a dark hair-covered entity, including knee, shoulder and face. The entity moved behind the tree out of view, and the witness left immediately with the child. She later returned with a firearm and found footprints where the entity had stood.

Daylight observation from Beacon Rock, along the Columbia River

From atop Beacon Rock, the witness watched a huge black figure climb a railroad bed in two strides and then stride across a pasture toward the river, passing among cows that looked only half its height and seemed undisturbed. A smaller figure that moved on all fours trailed behind it. The larger figure squatted for a time at a tributary before crossing back across the meadow and being lost from view.

In August 1988 on a rural farm with woods and creeks, the witness and a relative stood outside after dark to listen for a strange sound. They heard loud cries alternating from woods on both sides of the road where two creeks met, suggesting two animals, while noticing a strong musty odor and unusual silence of normal night sounds. Neither saw anything, and a next-day search along the creek banks found no tracks. Days later they felt the cries matched a vocalization heard in a Sasquatch movie.

A musky odor was noted that day.

A next-morning search found only indistinct impressions after rain.
