A man hunting small game claimed a tall, fully hairy figure walked across a dirt road near Skilak Lake. The figure paused, looked in his direction appearing surprised, then left swiftly into the woods. The witness watched from a few hundred yards away in daylight, loaded his shotgun because he was unsure of intent, and later chose not to tell authorities for fear of disbelief.

A huge dark being burst from the treeline into deep snow, moved very fast alternating bipedal and quadrupedal motion, then re-entered the woods with the helicopter following.

The witness was riding in the back of the family car after collecting river water when a large hairy figure stood up from a roadside ditch about 20 feet away and watched the car. The figure was described as [name withheld]-sized with long brown and gray hair and a mostly human-like angry face. The witness told the parents in the car, who dismissed the report.

He found a large well-trodden trail, a shredded willow break, and a torn-apart rotten stump, which he attributed to snow and bears at the time. On the return in a sunny open spot he heard a loud single-syllable vocal from the woods over the creek and chose to leave for the wide river bar rather than investigate.
