Four people parked in a car by a small pond at night heard a loud growl from across the water. When headlights were turned on they saw a large dark hairy figure with a cone-shaped head and green eyes that moved its head and made grunting sounds. After difficulty starting the car, they heard a loud prolonged roar and saw the figure still there as they drove away.
Hunter/Logger has a sighting in a closed logging area near Hilt
The witness returned to a secluded previously logged area to hunt with a dog. About 100 yards away, a dark brown hair-covered figure was seen crouching behind brush and staring at the witness and dog. The dog froze with raised fur and refused to advance. After a brief look through a rifle scope noting human-like eyes and black facial skin, the witness smelled strong body odor and quickly left the area.
Youth has sighting along abandoned railroad line on edge of West Frankfort
On a summer evening in the late 1970s, the witness rode a bicycle onto an abandoned railroad-bed trail near woods. Behind dumped washers and dryers the witness saw a hair-covered figure that stood upright, grunted, and shook a sapling. The witness fled east, looked back to see the figure on the trail, then watched it walk back into the treeline.

The witness and extended family had arrived late for a summer visit at the grandparents' mountain home and were talking inside. An older relative noticed something at the high kitchen window, prompting several men to go outside with firearms. The grandfather fired a shotgun toward the rear of the house while the witness, locked out front, saw the outline of a shoulder and head with reflective eyes near the roofline. The group regrouped inside, and dogs normally around the house were absent that night but returned frightened in the morning.

In 1979 the witness had moved ahead of a hiking group in the Adirondacks to watch beavers and was walking back to the main trail. Something flushed from thick brush ran diagonally toward the witness on the trail, pounding loudly and wailing like a woman screaming, and was seen partially as a fast, upright furry figure about four and a half feet tall. The witness initially assumed a bear cub but later doubted that because it ran upright for about 150 feet and the vocalization resembled sounds associated with Bigfoot reports.

As a 10-year-old visiting Mount Graham with relatives, the witness sat alone on a fallen tree with her back to an upslope boulder. She felt she was being watched, glanced behind her, and saw a large dark hair-covered creature standing upright partly behind the boulder about fifteen feet away. Late one spring night in 1979, the witness and a sibling were in bed in a downstairs bedroom when they saw a tall hairy figure looking in the window and then at the back door apparently trying to get inside. Their mother also saw the figure at the back door and called out for help before contacting the sheriff. Deputies searched the surrounding woods but reportedly found only a burned area of ground from apparent vomit and a small knocked-down tree.

During a nighttime military evasion exercise, the witness walked forward to look for his sergeant and heard heavy footsteps. A large dark hulking figure appeared briefly at the end of a clearing about 50 feet away and ran about 20 feet into the woods. The sergeant arrived from another angle and also reported seeing a dark form running away, and both later agreed it was not a deer, bear, human or other animal.

A large hairy face was peering inside from a few feet away and looked directly at the child. The witness was hunting deer and after a misfire on a deer entered a clearing. He noticed a dark man-like figure to his left that turned away and walked upright into dense brush. He left the area without looking for tracks and never returned to that spot.

On opening morning of deer season two cousins riding in the back of a pickup scanning a sage meadow spotted a large dark figure about 250 yards away. They watched it for about 10 seconds as it faced them, slightly bent forward with an arm on its knee, appearing motionless. When the truck stopped and backed up to regain the view the figure was gone. The cousins continued hunting that morning while feeling as if watched.

While bowhunting from a tree stand, the witness heard loud high-pitched shrieking and saw brush shaking as an unseen animal moved through thick briars. A hunting companion positioned below reportedly saw the animal on two legs and described it as apelike. Both left the area out of fear and did not return.
