The witness was driving alone southeast on US Highway 441 between Ft. Drum and Okeechobee around dusk. A small upright hair-covered creature ran across the road ahead, paused briefly at the far edge, then leapt over a roadside ditch and barbed-wire fence. The witness braked to about 20 mph at the crossing point but saw no further movement.

During military wargame training in the woods, a squad heard a low growl and high scream and saw a distant figure they first mistook for opposing forces. After they called out, the figure stood to about seven to eight feet, was judged not human, and threw rocks toward them before running to the treeline. Late at night the witness was driving with two companions when a large dark long-haired animal came into the headlights and leapt or ran across the road at an angle. The animal moved very fast on two legs using its long arms, with one arm described as rotating fully over its head, then disappeared down the grade on the far side. All three occupants reported seeing the same ape-like animal during the brief several-second encounter and were left shocked.

A child walking home from the bus stop through woods climbed onto a stump and noticed a tall black figure about 15 feet away breathing heavily and rocking with its arms at its sides. The figure turned its head to follow the child as the child backed toward the pavement and then ran home. The child told both parents about the encounter, and the father later submitted it after noticing a similar nearby report.

The witness woke a relative who also saw the animal though less clearly, while the kennel dogs remained silent in their houses.

When the witness stood up the figure turned to face him, then ran back to the west and disappeared quickly and quietly. The witness left the area and later decided not to hunt there again.

Late on a winter night the witness took the dog outside and saw a large hair-covered figure standing near a small building about 20-25 feet away. The witness and figure observed each other while the dog wanted to go inside and a strong foul smell was present. After briefly looking away at a noise, the witness went inside for a handgun, and on returning the figure was gone though sounds remained in the woods. A large footprint was found the next day.

The crossing lasted about three seconds and the companion was certain it was on two legs. The companion became frightened and urged them to keep driving as fast as possible.

The figure walked quickly east along the shore, then turned and moved quickly back across the yard toward marshy woods by the trailer while making heavy running sounds. The youths rushed inside the residence and locked the door, remaining upset through the night.

Two coworkers were pumping feed into silos on a turkey farm after midnight. One smelled an unfamiliar odor and shone a spotlight, spotting an animal behind a barn picking objects from the ground and blocking the light with its hand. He alerted his coworker, who also shone his light, saw the large creature walking toward him, then retreated to the front of the farm.
