One day the woods went quiet and he heard childlike playing shift to indistinct murmuring, then heavy bipedal footsteps approaching through brush. A roughly nine-foot, black-haired, barrel-chested male stepped onto the trail about 30 yards away, made rapid mouth-popping clicks answered from the brush, then growled and changed expression when the witness turned his bike. A second taller individual stood up in the brush showing chest and head, the witness rode about two and a half miles home, and family members dismissed the report as a bear.

A large upright creature stood from the bushes below, looked toward him and repeatedly bared its teeth, then walked over a ridge. The friend dropped his rifle, fled to the truck in shock, later quit the club and remained armed at home.

He then saw a reddish-brown female-appearing figure squatting across the creek near a beaver dam, apparently washing something in the water.
