He broke his pole, was struck by a whipped branch, reached the road, ran to camp, and later saw brushed-down vegetation where he emerged.

The witness heard coyotes in the woods behind the house and went in with a shotgun. He heard deer-like snorts back and forth, movement flanking him, clicking sounds and bird-like calls. Something followed him out, crossed the creek loudly, and a rock flew over his head. Later from the porch he heard a loud tree strike, saw movement running between houses, and next day found torn coyote remains and heard fences were down and dogs missing.
