Two companions hiking back from a mountain trail claim rocks were thrown toward them from the woods over an extended period, starting with misses above and behind them and later coming close enough to duck. They also report hearing an unidentified whining sound, possible footsteps, knock-like sounds, and a tree being shaken, without ever seeing the source. Near the area they noticed a green limb broken high and left hanging.

The witness walked to a railroad crossing late at night and heard loud screams and thrashing in nearby woods. Rocks landed around the witness, including one larger rock seen coming through the trees, and the witness threw a rock back before leaving. Four people on two four-wheelers stopped on railroad tracks at night to watch a distant light. While stationary they heard movement in the woods and then had rocks and large limbs or sticks thrown at them from the woods, landing on the tracks and splashing in a nearby ditch. The witness shone a flashlight but never saw what was throwing the objects, and the group left when the objects landed too close.

The guest and his best friend fished at the uncle's lake then dug for fossils at the high wall. Rocks were thrown at them from a ravine, then heavy footsteps paced them behind tall reeds. When they reached the truck and turned on headlights, an 8-9 foot upright grayish-black figure ran from behind the reeds up a steep hill in seconds and disappeared.

The activity continued over several days with more distant knocks that seemed to approach, another large rock landing near the witness, and an ice chest found opened.

During bow season last year, the witness walked on a friend's Michigan property to a swampy end of a small lake and sat down. A loud, eerie, almost human-like scream came from within about 50 yards through heavy vegetation and trees. A family camping in a tent at the mouth of a river woke around 5 a.m. to sounds of something moving in the water followed by repeated large splashes described as rocks being thrown. The witness was riding an ATV alone at night on ridgetop trails when he stopped in dense brush and a large rock passed just in front of his head, followed by a deep growl felt in the chest. He fled on the ATV but ran out of fuel a short distance away and while trying to restart heard loud heavy bipedal steps approaching from behind. He got the machine restarted and rode home without stopping, and later saw the rock sitting beside the trail for years.

The witness was camping with a group when she heard something large run up behind her through brush downhill from the campsite. She shone a flashlight and saw a pair of reflective eyes about six feet off the ground 10-12 feet away, then panicked and retreated behind the group. The group found nothing on searching but heard quiet footsteps withdrawing and a small rock thrown behind them.

The witness visited a pine forest site three times in the early morning. On the first visit he heard heavy footsteps retreating, smelled a skunk-like odor, and saw a rock thrown into water. On later visits he heard loud repeated calls and low moans, heard footsteps approach to within about 15 feet without seeing the source, had a large stick thrown near him, left food and recorded vocalizations, and noted indistinct footprints and large broken trees.

The witness and her husband were relaxing on the back porch of a mountain cabin in the evening when they heard prolonged loud howling from across the mountain to the southeast. The vocalizations lasted several minutes and did not match any wildlife known to them. About 15-30 minutes later they heard large rocks crashing downhill from a closer position on their side of the mountain.

The witness was hiking alone on a section of the Appalachian Trail when footsteps began pacing him from off-trail to his left. He glimpsed a dark figure and then rocks began flying past him, prompting him to jog and then sprint toward a road. The pursuer kept pace while breaking saplings and trees before stopping near the road, after which the witness calmed down and returned to his car.

The witness stopped beside a rural road while riding a bicycle. A rock flew across the road near the witness and landed on the opposite side. The witness looked toward a steep wooded hillside but saw no person who could have thrown it, then left the area.

Two young men were burning trash and playing harmonicas at a house when they started to race toward a barn. After a few steps they saw a very tall, broad figure that stopped and looked toward them, which startled them so they ran back inside the house. Soon after they heard banging sounds described like rocks being thrown at the house, but found no one outside when they checked.

A group was camping near a river and three men took a late-night hike down the river to throw rocks into the water. On the return they heard sounds suggesting something was following them, and the women in camp reported rocks being thrown near camp and brush moving. After going to bed the group heard a loud screech/scream twice, and before sunrise one woman was awakened by a close growl near the tent. No creature was seen.

Through the night gravel hit the van roof, brush crashed on different sides of the hill, and eyeshine appeared downhill. Shining a spotlight revealed a tall, thick ape-like figure staring up that they then fled from.

While camping alone at night near a stream, the witness heard a deep growl and saw a crouched dark mass at the treeline, fired warning shots, then heard rocks repeatedly splashing in the stream for hours and heard deep oof sounds on a later approach. Near dawn a very tall hair-covered female-like figure stood by the tent and walked rapidly toward the witness despite additional warning shots, then ran away over granite and out of sight. The witness remained in place until daylight and then hiked out.

The witness and two companions explored a deforested and mined area with piled boulders and abandoned mine buildings. Over about an hour they heard tapping from the woods, running footfalls, crashing in brush, and other strange noises, while stones were reportedly thrown toward the companions. They also found many snapped trees and a very large mound of possible scat that a tossed rock sank into.

The witness and three relatives returned at night by power boat to the isolated shore where trees had swayed earlier that day. They cut the engine about 20 feet from shore and watched into the darkness. Three objects splashed close to the boat over about a minute, believed to be thrown rocks, with no other sounds heard, before they restarted the engine and left.
