Late at night the witness was driving home along Highway 50 near the Sulphur River bottom when headlights from his car and an oncoming car lit a large dark upright figure on the roadside. The figure quickly crossed the two-lane road in a few long walking steps, appearing slumped forward with arms swinging. The witness slowed, stopped, turned around and searched the area with headlights but found nothing further.

They heard sloshing in the water and later saw a large figure run across the road ahead of the headlights and heard heavy steps in sagebrush. Using a spotlight they glimpsed a tall dark primate-like figure cross in front of a large boulder and enter dense timber.

She stopped close to it, stepped out behind her car door, and watched it for about a minute under her headlights while noting red glowing eyes and a musky odor and feeling calm. The biped then crossed the road, stepped over the opposite fence, paused to look back, and strode toward trees out of sight.

While on night patrol as a military security officer, the witness turned vehicle headlights back on in a curve and illuminated a large hairy human-like creature mid-stride. The creature leapt over a roadside ditch and disappeared into the treeline within about three seconds.
