The witness stated he was certain of what he saw and ruled out a bear based on its erect posture and movement.

The witness was driving a shuttle van alone at night toward a coal mine near Decker, Montana. A tall, long-haired figure walking on the right side of the road crossed in front of the van, forcing a hard stop, then stood on the left shoulder with its back to the vehicle before leaving into a ditch toward a fence. The witness was driving east on I-10 near Sonora around 1 a.m. when headlights revealed a tall dark figure standing in the center median. The figure rotated to keep its side toward the vehicle, then turned to face it before running south across the road with a forward lean and pumping arms. The witness turned back and searched the median for about 30 minutes but found only grass and no tree or bush to explain the figure.

The witness was returning down the canyon after fishing and exploring when a tall, dark, muscular creature crossed the road toward a meadow. It was watched for a few strides with a bent, arm-swinging gait, then seen crossing back at a slower pace as if avoiding an oncoming truck and people in the meadow. The witness believed they were the only observer and later found large tracks on a return visit.

On April 29, 2006 the witness was driving southbound on an unfamiliar road after leaving a mall when a deer bolted across the road in front of the car. A dark bipedal figure about six feet tall immediately followed in fast pursuit of the deer across the road and into trees and swamp on the other side. The entire chase lasted under 20 seconds, with exaggerated arm swing and speed that seemed exceptional for uneven terrain.

The figure moved across the ditch in a few long, fluid strides with a forward-leaning posture and entered thick bush where it disappeared from view. Occupants of a green caravan traveling ahead appeared to have seen the same figure.

The witness was driving southwest on the parkway near mile marker 307 at sunset with a companion in the car. He saw a solid black biped about four to five feet tall moving along the roadside, which then sprinted between his car and an oncoming vehicle. The figure lost its footing at the road edge, steadied itself with its arms, and disappeared into the woods within seconds. The companion did not see it.
