Man recalls multi-witness sighting in teen years near Manistique
Six youths walking along railroad tracks heard a loud guttural sound behind them and turned to see a tall hair-covered figure. The figure walked steadily across the tracks and down into swampy woods about 110 feet away without stopping. The group later went to where it entered the woods, noticed a strong rotten odor but found no tracks.

The witness, then about 13, was playing hide-and-seek at night behind a hall when he backed around a target box into something. He turned and saw a human-like figure a little over five feet tall covered in long hair, with a strong musky odor, then ran to tell the other children. While deer hunting and camped overnight, the witness and a companion heard a very loud yelling-like scream from nearby woods and followed the companion's dogs with rifles. In a flashlight beam they saw a bipedal figure handling the dogs, throwing one, which then turned toward them and fled into trees with crashing brush and a lingering odor. They left the area that night and heard the vocalization again from farther off while packing.

A teenager checking muskrat traps before school with a dog noticed the dog staying close and growling. On a steep bank the witness saw a tall hair-covered figure with a non-human face and a foul smell. The figure quickly walked and ran away across a field, stepping over a six-foot gate without touching it. The witness left without finding tracks because the ground was frozen and snow later covered the area.

Two relatives living on a farm reported a strong odor in their dairy barn followed by footprints in the barn lot leading toward dense forest. He claims a large hairy female creature picked him up, carried him quickly through the forest, and left him in camp with a heavy branch on his legs where his parents later found him. As a young teenager bringing cows across a canal near dark, the diarist saw a large bear-like figure standing on hind feet by a sapling 600-700 feet away and felt intense chill. Cows were undisturbed and his father was unconcerned. Next morning with his friend [name withheld] he found a huge bare footprint in wet mud under the sapling, estimated 8.5-9 feet tall using [name withheld]'s height, and nearby found a stick-bed with a strong repulsive odor.

The witness froze, then ran back the way they came while hearing branches breaking as the creature moved away.

Witnesses hear, smell, and feel something large moving & walking right next to them
Late at night in heavy fog, the witness's wife went to the outhouse and encountered something very close that she heard moving and smelled strongly, then fled back inside. The witness went outside with a gun and flashlight but could see nothing in the fog, though he heard bipedal footsteps, noticed a strong odor, and heard a low screeching sound toward a relative's home. The next morning he found a barbed-wire fence broken down with nails pulled out but found no tracks or hair.

While hunting near a lake in the fall of 1970, the witness reported a strong musky odor, unusual large and small scat, rhythmic thumping with ground vibration, and a large dead tree falling nearby while alone. The next day the witness returned with a companion, encountered the thumping and shaking again, and a large rock flew over their heads, after which they left the area.
