While commuting to work in the morning, the witness pulled over to watch what they first thought was a bear sitting under a large pecan tree. After noticing a strong foul odor, they watched the animal stand, walk to the tree on two feet, and shake pecans from it. After the witness honked, the animal froze, turned to look, made a loud screeching noise, and ran quickly into the woods.

In the same area they heard a screeching vocalization they did not recognize as bear, mountain lion, or raptor. They also found large footprints near where they had eaten lunch, measuring about 14 by 6 inches, which they felt were not bear tracks but could not positively identify due to hard rocky ground.

In May 1998 the witness hiked alone to Minnehaha Falls near Lake Rabun and remained until after dark. After noticing a bad smell and a squatting figure he mistook for another hiker, he approached and saw a very tall, dark-brown, hair-covered biped that stood, walked away with long strides, then stepped toward him before leaving. The witness drew his service pistol and shouted, after which the creature walked away, and he left the area without telling anyone at the time.

The witness was driving on a highway through forest and swamp late at night when a small fox-like animal ran along and across the road. Immediately after, a large upright shaggy creature leapt across the highway in front of the car from right to left and disappeared into roadside vegetation. After mimicking animal sounds in the evening, the witness stayed awake through the night hearing crashes, footsteps, grunts and mimicking speech, and saw eye shine high off the ground. In the morning the pair found a snapped tree, strong odor, widely spaced ground marks and a five-toed partial print, which the witness attributed to a large visitor.

Two roommates heard loud wailing vocalizations from outside while watching a movie late at night. The sounds started low and guttural then rose to a high wavering pitch and repeated after a pause, causing neighborhood dogs to react loudly. After the sounds stopped, the witness stepped outside, noticed a horrible smell and a feeling of being watched, then went back inside.

While on night patrol, the witness responded to a companion's report of something standing by trees behind a building and shone a spotlight into the woods. A very large upright hairy creature holding a branch was seen, which then dropped the branch, looked back with red eyeshine, screamed, and ran away with a strong odor left behind. The witnesses later found a large pine branch torn from about nine feet up.

The teenage volunteer and his younger cousin were biking and then walking a dense trail toward a waterfall when they smelled decay and heard rustling. A reddish-brown hairy arm reached through thick brush very close to the witness and snapped off a limb, showing a human-like hand. Both fled immediately, later told the foreman, and returned the next day to recover the bikes but found no tracks due to rocky ground.

The witness and a companion were parked in a truck at a mountain road landing late at night and watched a wild boar rooting in snow. After the boar fled, an upright figure appeared at the tree line, stood over the boar's spot, and was then illuminated by high beams. The figure blocked the light, showed glowing eyes, grunted, crossed the road in three strides, grabbed a sapling and disappeared uphill, leaving a strong odor.

A woman hunting with her husband from under pine trees across a meadow noticed a dark figure that had not been there minutes earlier. She watched it through binoculars for about 15 minutes, seeing yellow eyes looking back, before leaving for camp without telling her husband why. Her husband, positioned nearby, did not see the figure but reported smelling something awful at the same time.
