Later the same night the two men returned to the same pull-off with another couple to show them the spot. While shining a light west of the car, one witness watched a golden-brown shape repeatedly duck behind a bush. No sound was heard, nothing was seen when headlights swept the area, and daylight inspection suggested the shape would have been much taller than first thought.

After one made whoop sounds, a loud close thud answered from the woods and was captured on both phones' recordings. One heard movement on his side of the car before they left after a few minutes.

Three young men walked a trail at night in a conservation area to look for a pond. Rocks were thrown toward two of them from the woods, strange pacing, a low growl, and rhythmic booming sounds followed them. They found fresh green trees snapped and laid across the trail blocking the path, then were hurried out by more rock throws and close movement before the woods went quiet and normal night sounds returned near the car.

The witness was lying in bed in an off-grid camper when surrounding animal sounds went silent. Over about an hour the witness heard a single knock, shed creaking as if pushed, rustling and footsteps on gravel, a possible growl and chewing, and a single whoop with no reply. The next day the witness found a large footprint in the gravel near where the sounds originated and photographed it with a tape measure.

The witness and a relative were night fishing across a creek from a short bluff when they heard crashing coming down the hill. They shone a spotlight and saw a large hairy figure crouched at the shoreline, then heard a second crashing nearby. The first figure entered the creek and stood in deep water up to its rib cage while they watched, after which both people fled without looking back.

Two companions were quietly floating in a canoe on a dark creek at night when they startled something standing at the creek edge. They heard heavy bipedal footsteps exiting the water, displacing water and making waves, then moving onto the bank. A large rock then splashed into the creek very close to the canoe, after which the subject walked uphill into the woods. The witnesses stayed silent out of fear and never saw the subject because of darkness.

Four people were camping around a campfire at Rocky Fork Lake in July 2004 when a large animal came from the woods to the south, circled the campsite three times at close range, and ran toward the lake emitting a high-pitched howl and pig-like squeals before running behind the camp. The group later noticed smeared foot impressions at the site, but rain had obscured detail and no identifiable evidence was preserved.

The witness and a companion drove to a hilltop late at night to watch a meteor shower. They heard repeated deep growls and saw the silhouette of a large man-like figure with a cone-shaped head and very wide shoulders walking silently up the road toward them. They fled by car, and a daytime revisit found no tracks.

Two men walking through very dense brush heard a loud roar-like sound ending in a high-pitched shriek. They then smelled a very strong foul odor and heard unseen brush movement, followed by a second, closer howl. Both men fled through the brush and exited about half a mile from where they entered. The account was relayed to the reporter by a relative of one participant, who said the participant remained frightened of that woods afterward.

While taking a disused trail as a shortcut between Scout camps, the witness and a companion heard crashing in dense forest. The witness saw two fur-covered bipedal creatures run across the path, jump a stream, and disappear. The pair fled to a road, got a ride back, and reported the sighting to a Scoutmaster who did not believe them.

Memory told of a close encounter while deer hunting east of Salem
While hunting from a tree stand shortly after sunrise, the witness saw a frightened deer run by followed by two upright hairy figures. One figure came within about 15-20 feet, stared face-to-face at eye level for 10-15 seconds and emitted a deep growl before leaving. The witness fled toward a nearby farmhouse, fired a rifle shot overhead and shouted, while movement and noise paralleled him in the woods.

The next night the window by the witness's bed went dark for a few seconds as if something blocked the moonlight, with a wet-dog smell, and a check outside and next-morning search found nothing.

About a month after the Ozarks trip the guest was partying at a friend's rural property near Buckner. The group went to shoot bullfrogs at a pond and heard a splash. A companion shined a spotlight across the water where the guest saw a hairy skinny figure similar to the Ozarks creature running away quickly.
