Sasquatch sighting near Lenexa, Kansas (1970)
While throwing a football alone at night, the witness noticed a small head with pointed ears peeking from behind tall hedge bushes and threw the ball toward it after it repeatedly ducked. Later that same night while sleeping near a low bedroom window, a much larger hairy face appeared at the glass, made eye contact, shifted its eyes, wrinkled its brow and opened a wide mouth showing pointed teeth. The witness fled to a parent's room while heavy pacing was felt and heard around the house, then police were called but found nothing. The next morning the witness found large prints around windows and garden, recalled repeated early-morning howls, a growl with a branch breaking, grunting in the basement and a violently shaking backyard tree.

The witness, recently out of the military, was fly-fishing with three relatives in a steep, remote river gorge. He turned to see an upright animal at close range that quickly climbed the steep bank to the ridgeline. The group then heard extremely loud guttural vocalizations and huffs, saw movement on the ridge, and had a large rock land in the water near them. They left at dusk and later agreed among themselves it had not been a bear despite one relative's dismissive explanation.

The witness was camping with two companions near a lake in Yosemite. After hearing cracking in brush in the afternoon, they heard a close loud roar rising to a high scream at night and smelled a wet-dog odor. Other campers said something ran past their tent, and the group stayed in the tent until sunrise then left without continuing their trip.
A large, unseen growling animal breaks large branches as it moves quickly up a hillside
The witness and a companion hiked about five miles up a creek to fish and felt they were being watched as the forest went unusually quiet. During an afternoon thunderstorm a lightning strike hit across the creek, after which they heard a growling or grunting sound and branches breaking high in trees moving rapidly up the creek and mountain out of hearing. The witness briefly saw a large shadow moving in the woods but nothing conclusive, and they could not search for prints because a fire from the strike caused evacuation.
Vocalizations heard by hikers
In summer around 1970, the witness and a friend were walking on an old dirt road through dense forest. About 50 feet ahead they heard a loud growling and screaming sound, saw trees shaking with sunlight breaking through the canopy, and felt the ground shake. They ran about half a mile out of the woods and the witness reported it to family that evening.

The witness was deer hunting alone from a ground blind in northern Minnesota. A frightened doe ran into the blind and lay down behind the witness. Shortly after, two large hairy creatures appeared on either side, one stepping briefly out of a cornfield and another showing only the top of its head in brush, vocalizing and moving around before leaving, after which the deer walked away and the witness left.

The witness was riding in a pickup with a relative scouting timber in a steep mountainous area when a large hairy upright animal crossed the road in front of the truck. The animal came down one bank, crossed in a few fast strides, and went down the opposite slope out of sight while brush broke behind it. The relative stopped and got out with a rifle but could not relocate it.

During summer 1965 the witness was exploring woods near military housing when he found very large barefoot prints in red clay leading into the trees. While on a trail he heard heavy bipedal footsteps that appeared to follow him, stopping when he stopped and rushing toward him, causing him to flee to the housing area. He returned with a friend and both heard the same following footsteps rush toward them before fleeing, with the friend reporting an indistinct large movement in the brush.

The witness and spouse were bow hunting in timber when something unseen followed them, starting and stopping as they moved. After the witness shot a deer, the follower vocalized loudly and thrashed brush and trees while pursuing them downhill. The pair abandoned the deer and left the timber, with the follower continuing to vocalize behind them to the timber edge.

While on a solo night escape-and-evasion march at Fort Jackson, the witness stopped at a fire-lane crossing around 2 a.m. in total darkness. Something approached, moved away after being challenged, made growling talk-like sounds, then approached again before crashing away through brush. Startled, the witness ran and eventually reached another soldier with a fire and truck.

In August 1964 two teenagers were walking back to a family cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon after dark when they heard footsteps matching their movements and a low unearthly growl. They ran through a gully to the cabin and locked themselves inside. They then heard the nearby outhouse door open and slam, saw nothing when they turned on an outside light, later heard the door fling open with crashing in brush, and spent the night upstairs.

The witness walked alone at night up a gravel mountain road toward a cabin after retrieving a wallet in town. Something unseen below the road in steep brush kept pace, breaking branches and dislodging rocks, stopping when the witness stopped and moving faster after rocks were tossed at it. Before reaching a bend where the road met the canyon, relatives arrived by car and the witness got in and left.

In 1963 the witness hiked with family members to Teddy Lakes to fish. While rowing around an island they heard splashing and then found a line of very large, deep, human-like footprints in shallow mud where an animal had exited the water. Neither the witness, then a youth experienced with tracks, nor his expert-tracker grandfather could identify the maker, and the trail was lost in forest litter.

While deer hunting and camped overnight, the witness and a companion heard a very loud yelling-like scream from nearby woods and followed the companion's dogs with rifles. In a flashlight beam they saw a bipedal figure handling the dogs, throwing one, which then turned toward them and fled into trees with crashing brush and a lingering odor. They left the area that night and heard the vocalization again from farther off while packing.

The witness and a companion were sleeping in a tent on a hill while camping. In the early morning hours the witness was awakened by a deep growling grunt very close to the tent, followed by brush sounds as something moved away. In the morning the witness searched for tracks, fur, or other sign but found nothing, and concluded the sounds had been made by a bigfoot.

The witness was staying at home with her older sister while her parents were out. After hearing movement outside and seeing a large head at the window, she opened the front door, turned on the porch light, and came face to face with a tall hair-covered figure. Her middle sister arrived and ran toward the figure, which then left and quickly disappeared. The sisters did not discuss the incident at the time and only recalled it decades later.

The witness was camping overnight with a large scout group near a lake when a large pot of food disappeared from camp. Throughout the night the group heard bushes thrashing, repeated tree knocks, and loud long whistles coming from different sides of the camp. Counselors kept everyone by the fire until daylight, when another scout group helped them leave and police were called but reportedly found nothing.

A young girl picking blueberries alone near dark felt watched and saw a figure crouched in the patch that slipped into brush. Moments later she saw a very tall, hair-covered, man-like figure by a tree that ducked behind it, then followed her at a distance as she ran home screaming. Her relatives later searched the site armed and reported matted brush with a bad odor.

Two trappers set up camp to trap beaver and found their camp demolished and human-like tracks around it. At night they heard rustling, smelled a foul stench, fired a shot and heard something flee. After separating in the morning, one man found his partner dead with a broken neck and bite marks and fled, blaming a wild man.
