In the afternoon two members heard heavy movement circling in brush, and one moved closer and watched part of a tall dark figure step from behind a tree. The observer described a seven-foot-tall heavily built figure with long arms, no visible neck, and reddish eyes. The pair left the area and discussed the sighting on the drive home.

As a child the witness walked upstream out of sight of relatives while fishing. He heard deep grunting sounds and saw thin trees shaking as something unseen moved through dense brush behind him. The witness went to the bottom of a hill near a relative's home at Canton Lake to smoke. After hearing a crushing and rustling noise, the witness saw a tall black bipedal being about twenty yards away that looked at the witness and raised its arms. The witness then ran back up the hill to the relative's home.

A group of youths watching cattle from a hill saw the herd become anxious and flee a corner of the field. They went to the fencerow to investigate and found reddish hair on barbed wire and a small pine twisted and knocked over high up. After hearing movement, two of them saw a face with gray-white eyes and reddish hair about seven feet up near the broken tree and watched it for about two minutes before fleeing.

After the campfire burned low at night they heard loud breaking branches, rushing movement circling and approaching the camp, and a loud howl-like vocalization, while their dog growled and a strong foul odor was present. They kept the fire large, shone flashlights into the woods without seeing eyeshine, and left at daylight, later associating the incident with Bigfoot after a friend's comment.

After about five minutes normal swamp sounds resumed, suggesting whatever made the sounds continued down the lake.
