The witness said he had camped there for decades and never heard anything like it, and later felt a recording from another Michigan case sounded nearly identical.

The following fall archery opener, five hunters camped at the same site and the guest shot a buck in hot weather, butchering it and hanging the inedible carcass across the creek about nine feet up. After 10 p.m. they heard heavy footfalls and feeding grunts, fired guns to scare the animal, found the carcass pulled down, rehung it higher twice with the same result, then listened as it stripped rib meat requiring great grip strength. One companion left for Alaska afterward and the guest never returned to the area.

The guest, a delivery truck driver, was en route to a distribution center in York when he saw a large dark figure by a creek from a bridge. He stopped along with another driver to watch it, thinking it was a bear. The figure stood to about eight and a half feet, looked like a hairy human holding a dead goat or dog, grunted, slammed a fist into the water, then dropped to all fours and fled rapidly through water and woods. A state trooper who responded suggested a bear, which both witnesses rejected.

On another night camped on the creek, the witness and a companion smelled rotten mud, heard large rocks thrown into the creek, and heard growls and a grunt that frightened them away.

On the second night something bipedal approached with raspy breathing and growled for about fifteen seconds before walking away on two feet. They stayed but saw almost no game over three days despite bedding and trails.

On another weekend the witness was leaning back on a four-wheeler with a rifle across his lap near the ravine edge when he heard close rock clacking ahead. Then from about fifty feet behind him in the forest came an extremely loud escalating bark-growl-roar that shook the vehicle and his body. A younger companion walking the ravine edge within fifty yards reportedly did not hear it at all.

The rider felt suddenly hot and euphoric and began removing clothing despite cold wet weather until companions arriving and splashing through water broke the state. Later on the same ride the group found very large fresh human-like footprints without claws in untouched mud.

The witness and a companion were fishing at night under a river bridge when they found a fresh human-like track in the mud. They then heard loud roars ending in screams, heavy movement and thudding from across the river, had rocks thrown toward them, and heard splashing and grunting as they left. At the truck they found river mud spattered on the vehicle with a strong foul odor.

While grilling on the porch after dark, the witness and others heard grunts, growls and whooping from the thicket. He saw dark silhouettes of three figures moving between bramble patches about 60-70 feet away. The group went inside afterward.

The witness and his girlfriend were night hiking about 100 yards into a paved trail when they heard snaps, a heavy thud, and three deep grunts. They then heard two sets of footfalls circling toward the trail entrance. They left without seeing anything.

The witness was driving home late from a family dinner and slowed in a desolate gamelands stretch where deer often cross. A young deer tumbled into the road and a huge hairy biped leapt from a bank, grabbed the deer, broke its neck, growled, then leapt over a guardrail and disappeared downhill.
