Family has a possible nighttime encounter while in their home near Hancock
The witness and his wife were awakened around 3 a.m. by loud screaming sounds outside their home. The witness went to the rear deck with a shotgun and heard prolonged commotion including shaking trees in multiple spots, breaking limbs, running footsteps approaching the deck, and aggressive grunting very close by. They did not see anything, kept lights off out of fear, and then heard what sounded like several large creatures retreating to the tree line. The next day they found pushed-over bushes and freshly broken branches.

The witness was riding a bicycle on trails behind the house on a summer day. After hearing stomping noises and then a loud deep vocalization, the witness stopped and saw a large hairy figure about 20 feet away hitting a tree. After brief eye contact, the figure stepped into the woods and disappeared, and the witness rode home quickly.

The figure is described as walking upright past the window in one direction and sometimes returning minutes later. The witness was sleeping in a tent with other campers during a Girl Scout overnight stay when she was awakened by something pressing on the tent and making grunting sounds. After she scratched the tent fabric and made a loud sound herself, she felt something solid outside and heard a loud grunt or growl followed by crashing away through the underbrush. The other occupants screamed, camp leaders said everyone was accounted for, and an unrecognized funky odor was noticed.

Low on gas at night, three young men camped in a clearing up a mountainside. While gathering wood by a dry creek bed, the witness saw a bipedal silhouette step behind a tree, assuming a friend. All night they heard substantial branch breaking moving around the clearing. They stayed by the fire until morning.
