The witness was walking back to his camper after hunting when he heard heavy footsteps and waited on the road. An upright bear-like figure appeared in an opening, faced him and froze for a few seconds before turning and leaving silently. The witness heard it snap a large fallen tree in two, suggesting great weight. The witness reached the road area, slept in the truck overnight, and heard no additional screams or strange noises.

The witness reported a brief glimpse of a long shaggy finger-like shape through the vent screen, and said the sounds withdrew when a car approached and returned later.

They backed away slowly, freed their stuck truck, and drove home, telling no one for years.
