As they returned to the car in the dark they encountered a strong foul odor, heard heavy running footsteps ending with a thud near a gully, and heard a grating voice-like sound before driving away.

Through the tent screen the witness saw a tall, dark, hair-covered bipedal silhouette standing a short distance away, which stood still briefly before turning and walking away toward a field out of view. The witness told family the next morning and later searched the field but found no trace.

The witness and companions were camping and sitting around a campfire at night when they heard a very loud, unfamiliar scream-like sound from the woods below camp. They listened for about 25 minutes as the sound circled the camp while hearing something large moving through brush. No visual sighting was made, and the group only jokingly suggested Bigfoot at the time.

The witness was sleeping outside on the fringe of a large group camp in a remote pine forest when awakened around 1:30 a.m. by a loud, unfamiliar scream and sounds of a large animal moving through brush within about 20 yards. Too frightened to look, the witness hid in a sleeping bag. A similar scream was heard again one to two hours later farther off, and other campers also reported hearing the wails.

The witness and a companion were hiking in the evening when they heard a muffled gibberish-like scream and called out with no response. As they walked toward the sound, they heard crashing and saw a large, hunched, hairy human-like figure run past about 10 feet away down the mountainside. They were too shocked and scared in the fading light to follow it.

The main witness was sitting on a log hunting squirrels after an older relative moved to another area. A dark hairy figure reportedly ran upright from behind a tree very fast, making a high-pitched noise with loud thumping footsteps. After smelling a musky odor and finding a large nesting area, they saw a female creature sitting by a berry bush that stood and quickly left into the woods. They tracked snapping sounds and heavy breathing with amplified equipment for over an hour until the sounds stopped near a clear-cut.

After dark they smelled a strong putrid odor, heard distant whistle/howl sounds and a closer loud howl, then heard deliberate footsteps crunching in snow approaching the firelight. After shouting and firing a pistol shot, they heard a grunt and running footsteps, then fired repeatedly and drove off the mountain the same night.

The witness was studying at home late at night when a tethered dog and nearby livestock became highly agitated. The witness went to the front door with a pistol and flashlight and saw a large figure crouched in tall grass outside a hot-wire fence. The figure then stood on two legs and ran bipedally along the fence while the witness tracked it briefly before retreating inside. A later search of the area found only disturbed grass and no footprints.

The witness was driving home late at night when a large manlike entity crossed the two-lane road in front of the vehicle in a few fast, smooth steps and disappeared into trees on the far side. The witness stopped, noting no other vehicles or people around, and heard it crashing through brush. The next morning the witness found a path of broken brush and trampled grass where it had crossed but no tracks.

The witness and a companion were working for about a month at a remote camp near Spruce Knob. On one night by the campfire the witness heard low vocal sounds and three grunts directly behind him. As they rowed closer the shape stood upright to about seven feet, looked toward them, turned toward a twig-snapping sound behind it, then spun and ran into the forest with further movement sounds heard. After waiting in the canoe, they paddled ashore and found two obscured marks in the sand where it had turned.

Two companions on a multi-night archery hunting and camping trip heard a loud repeated yell/scream approaching their camp late at night. After driving to investigate and hearing it from closer range, they returned to find it within about a hundred yards, also hearing walking and stick-breaking nearby. Frightened, they hastily packed their tent and left the area by truck in the early morning without ever seeing the source.

In the early afternoon the witness hiked from one high mountain lake toward nearby Lost Lake. Near a boulder about 20 yards away the witness saw a large hairy biped that crouched, looked toward the lake and the witness, then stood and walked briskly into trees out of earshot. The witness estimated the encounter lasted 8 to 12 seconds and then left the area quickly without following.

Later, while sleeping alone in a tent, the witness was awakened by heavy footsteps, ground vibrations, and breaking branches very close by. The witness was hiking with a child after becoming lost and stopped by a berry thicket along an old logging road to pick berries. The witness heard footsteps moving through thick brush behind the thicket, called out, and felt watched as the steps paused then resumed more slowly. An unseen source then produced a very loud deep growl rising toward a roar, prompting the witness to flee with the child.

The witness claims they were sitting alone fishing on a riverbank in the early evening when they heard prolonged rustling and noticed a strong foul odor growing stronger. After about 10-15 minutes they turned to see a very tall, broad, dingy-brown hairy figure standing 20-30 yards away staring at them without moving or making sound. After a brief stare-down the witness dropped their fishing pole and ran about a half-mile to their car and drove home, and states they have never returned to the spot.
