A couple camping overnight in a camper with their children awoke around 2 a.m. to the sound of bipedal footsteps circling the camper. After turning on lights, shouting, and checking outside with a flashlight revealed nothing and the steps repeatedly resumed, the family left for a town parking lot. They returned in the morning but found no tracks in the leaf-covered ground.

On the way back they heard footsteps and branches breaking around them and something repeatedly threw snow or hard snow clods at them, while dogs barked nearby and a rank carcass-like odor was noticed. They jogged most of the way out, leaving around 3-3:30 a.m., and the witness believed deep snow ruled out a prank by a person.

The group then packed and left the area.
