The girlfriend reported it whistled at her, and next morning they found a single partial footprint in hard clay.

He flashed his bright lights, saw two reddish eyes glance toward him, then watched it drop down the steep bank. He stopped, got out, saw only a water trail across the pavement and heard splashing moving through the woods.

The witness returned to the same rock house about two weeks later and camped overnight. Around 1:30 a.m. the same heavy footsteps approached the same poplar tree, the creature peeked out a few times showing red eyeshine, then left without stepping fully out and without making much noise.
