While hauling a load on unfamiliar back roads south of State College, the truck driver noticed a tall upright figure standing just outside the treeline atop a road bank watching traffic. He was drawn to its extremely bright red eyes and estimated it at six and a half to seven feet tall with wide shoulders, narrow waist, and light tan-brown hair. He had only a few seconds of viewing while passing at 30 to 100 feet and did not see it move.

Startled and concerned about a companion in the vehicle and a deer carcass needing attention, the witness chose not to stop or back up and left the area quickly. The sighting occurred after dark and was recalled years later after reading other reports.

The next evening after dinner the dog fixated on brush by a steep drop, where one camper saw paired eyes at close range that avoided a flashlight, followed by branch breaks and a tall tree-like silhouette that walked from one side of camp to the road and later showed yellow eyeshine. The group packed hurriedly, secured the dog and lights, and drove home the same night feeling watched but not directly threatened.
