He searched outside with a flashlight and rifle but saw no one, noting no trees were close enough to hit the cabin and the access gate remained locked. The witness went inside for a rifle, heard the thing move to the back of the house and try the door, then fled through an orange grove, fell into a swamp and lost the rifle. After looking back and seeing a creature, the witness reached the road and got help, and friends later found the back door torn off.

Late one spring night in 1979, the witness and a sibling were in bed in a downstairs bedroom when they saw a tall hairy figure looking in the window and then at the back door apparently trying to get inside. Their mother also saw the figure at the back door and called out for help before contacting the sheriff. Deputies searched the surrounding woods but reportedly found only a burned area of ground from apparent vomit and a small knocked-down tree.

One evening in September 1978 around 10:30 p.m., the witness and his wife were going to bed when something was noticed outside their bedroom window. After turning on the light, they reported seeing three bipedal creatures with widely spaced orange-rimmed eyes peering through the screen, one stooping to look in. The witness and two relatives were playing poker inside a hunting cabin at night when a loud bang struck the side door followed by an unfamiliar loud scream-howl from outside. They armed themselves and opened the door with flashlights but saw nothing, only hearing something walk away into the woods and smelling a wet-dog-like odor. They chose not to follow it.

Late one night at a remote hunting camp, the witness and two companions saw a tall grayish-brown bipedal creature step onto the porch and try to kick in the front door. The creature then ran around the back of the camp and gave an extremely loud yell or scream that woke others in camp. The witness described it as walking on hind legs and having hands rather than paws.

The witness and a companion were alone at the witness's parents' house at night when they saw a head looking in through the front door. They retreated to a bedroom without curtains where they heard breathing and scratching and saw a hairy hand against the window screen. The companion fired two shots that missed, and the figure ran away. A sheriff who responded found bullet holes but no blood or footprints.

They then observed a tall, large dark hair-covered figure passing a high dining-room window and filling it from edge to edge. A relative retrieved a firearm and the household stayed awake for most of the night.

She heard the screen door open and shut, smelled a foul odor, heard heavy shuffling steps and breathing with a soft growl behind her bunk, and felt something large and furry trace her face. She next remembers waking on the floor, and the next morning a bunkmate said she had seen a big black hairy creature standing behind the witness.

A family on a farm found a solid wooden garage door torn off and eight pet rabbits killed and mutilated with little blood, after hearing a woman-like scream. On subsequent nights they saw a seven-foot hairy creature near the road and under the yard light. They fired on it as it entered the coop and came toward them, then sent children away. Police blamed a bear, raccoon or wild dog.

As a child the witness was at home at night with siblings and a cousin when the doorbell rang repeatedly with no one there. An older brother became hysterical after seeing something peeking from behind a tree and gesturing, and later a neighbor arrived saying something had followed him in the woods. Two older girls then saw a dark form at the bottom of a trail that moved and had red eyes, and also something with a cone-shaped head peeking around a garage, and the younger children later saw a large figure pass by a window.

The witness recalls numerous puzzling occurrences from 30-40 years ago on a family farm of about 100 acres with orchards and woods. These included trees reportedly moved to block trails, an elaborate woven arch structure, large human-like footprints with long strides, rocks and a branch thrown near the witness, loud clicking exchanges, and nighttime disturbances around the barn and house. No creature was reportedly seen clearly, and the interpretation as possible Sasquatch activity developed over later years.

Late one evening in 1976, a neighbor arriving home reportedly found a large hairy dark man-like creature on his porch. The creature fled when headlights hit it and leaped over a six-foot fence. The neighbor's wife had been inside holding a pistol after hearing something pull on the screen door. The witness's father then saw the creature run and leap a wide creek, hearing a grunt on landing, before it disappeared.

Five women staying overnight at a rural farmhouse heard loud piercing screams approaching from up a hill toward the house. A backlit tall, large-framed figure walking hunched over passed in front of the front picture windows and beat on the house, and a very hairy leg was seen when the front door was opened. The figure then went around the corner of the house and disappeared, leaving a burning skunk-like smell. Two men who had been away returned later and searched the large farm into the early morning without finding anything.
