On arrival the preacher heard banshee-like screams and ruckus, and inside found the couple reporting wall-slapping, door-handle jiggling and screen-scratching. After about ten minutes of loud prayer the disturbance stopped, which the preacher attributed to demonic activity.

He fired three pistol shots with no effect, fled, later refused to leave his car on that road, believed it followed him, began drinking heavily and died of alcohol poisoning.
