During the examination the glass covering cracked and the men reported a smell of decomposing flesh. The guest's grandfather and his brother went squirrel hunting and split up in a small hunting area. The brother slipped over a fallen log and came face to face about a foot away from a huge hairy creature that showed its teeth and had hot, foul breath. He fired a sidearm at point-blank range then fled screaming to the grandfather, and both left in the truck. The brother reportedly never hunted or entered the woods again.
