Newspaper account of an encounter with an unknown creature near Salt Creek
A motorcyclist turning onto Fairfield Street claimed a Bigfoot-like creature ran in front of him and caused him to fall. The creature then continued south toward Salt Creek while emitting a terrible smell. The frightened rider got up and left. A nearby resident recalling the story years later said it was in the local newspaper the next day.

A girl camper ran to the boys' side overnight saying she saw an ugly black face peering in the bathroom window. The children first thought it was a joke but she appeared terrified. The next day the group found large muddy handprints with an oddly offset thumb on the outside wall under a high small window.

After a disturbance, a giant snake emerged mid-river with a human-like face, braids and feather, seized the uncle, constricted him and pulled him into the water. The son recovered the badly crushed but surviving man while police later attributed injuries to rocks.

The guest's friend was at a Sundance fire when small beings played peekaboo around the horseshoe mound. They popped up on one side, scurried on little feet to the other side, and popped up again. They were described as tiny Indians with feathers, braids and moccasins.
