A year or two before the interview, the husband sat pre-dawn near a primitive boat ramp about two miles away waiting for daylight. Something next to him sounded like a Louisville slugger hitting a tree. He sat motionless until daylight.

The caller recalled attending school in a small East Texas town. A friend who lived in the woods off Bottoms Road near the river said a gorilla-like presence lived there and that she had seen it. The caller's father also warned about boogers in the woods, which the caller dismissed at the time.
