In June the team returned to the same creek area when a team leader said something was coming down the creek with splashing sounds. One member ran toward it about ten feet, then stopped, turned and ran back past the group. He later said a low guttural growl stopped him and made him feel sick.

A driver stopped to help two motorists whose car had left the road after swerving to avoid a large hairy creature chasing a deer across the road. While fetching a rope from his truck to pull their car out, he walked directly into the creature standing behind his truck. He noted a foul smell, red eyes, and a low growl before it walked to the woods edge and then into the woods. He then helped move the car and continued his trip, shaken by the encounter.
