The guest's roommate was hunting on leased private land about a mile and a half away the same afternoon. The woods were lively then went dead silent for a few minutes while he felt dread and drew his gun. After a few minutes the dread lifted and the woods became active again.

A lone member sat in a daytime observation post in Area X and heard mouth-pop sounds from multiple points. He imitated the sounds and received a menacing growl, then the animal bluff-charged him. He saw it only briefly, fired a warning shot, and it stopped and retreated.

A young hunter entered a remote village appearing terrified. Through his uncle's translation he said he had met a large orange-furred giant called Umar while hunting by the river that morning. Before the caller joined him, her husband hiked a trail off logging roads near the Oregon coast with a friend and his dog to go fishing. The dog froze and refused to move as a putrid smell appeared from nowhere. They coaxed the dog onward, fished the day, and had no issues on the return.

While biking with her father, the daughter rode ahead, fell off her bike and fled screaming that a black furry thing with upright ears and a massive neck looked at her and came toward her before retreating into bushes when it saw the father. The father saw only black fur and rustling and later called fish and game.

The guest relayed that a younger brother went down to another house at night to borrow tobacco and returned muddy, breathing hard, and smelling bad. He said something with black hairy arms grabbed him by the pear trees and threw him in mud. The guest was not present.

Late at night the husband heard dogs going crazy and a cow screaming. He listened from the property and believed the cow was being torn apart near the river, possibly by two or three creatures. Days later a dog brought back huge leg bones thought to be from that cow.

Two campers with a child and a large dog told the guest they camped after hiking in. Around 1 a.m. in fog, the dog hid, growled, and stared into the forest. The men heard a clicking sound from one side and a whoop-like reply from the other side, repeated for a minute or more, then heard something large run off like a horse. The dog remained frightened and watched the woods while leaving.

A patrol agent sitting dark in a vehicle saw a crouched figure resembling a native warrior advance with a club-like weapon. The agent exited with weapon drawn and chased the figure around the vehicle, where it vanished without sound or footprints.

After a fellow agent died in a cliff fall, an apparition resembling him was reported over about seven months moving across the mountain toward a dam. It reportedly stopped groups, spoke, and once appeared carrying its head. A final incident involved several people chased over the dam resulting in deaths, after which federal investigators were shown a photo of the deceased agent and witnesses identified him, ending the inquiry.

During one spring or summer when a strange animal was in the area, cattle stayed near the barn and hunting dogs refused to leave the porch, even when chased off. [name withheld] and a friend, ages about 10-11, were hiking unsupervised from an expedition base camp in the Cascades when they found drag marks and a crude log teepee structure. His friend climbed to peer inside and came face-to-face with a hair-covered, bear-like but man-like creature using a stick, then fled in terror to camp. The group stayed the night under guard and were told something large circled camp all night before they evacuated at dawn.

The guest's grandfather was sitting on his vehicle eating sardines when a grayish hairy figure appeared and stared for several minutes with only slight swaying. He set the food down, left, and found it gone the next day, then left food there about every two weeks and saw the figure a few times. On the last visit he saw a large black one with a younger one, the large one shaking trees and throwing things while the young one left, after which he stopped going there.

On night two a separate team driving a roadway saw red eyeshine about ten feet up that turned and crossed the road. They pursued on foot hearing twig snaps and rustling of something large and seeing shifting eyeshine eight to ten feet up. Members then reported feeling ill, disoriented, and trance-like, with the last person feeling lured away from the group.

A hunter encountered what he called an ape man that did not look like the well-known film subject. The animal growled, turned and charged him. When he shot, it was gone, described later as a glimmer of light like time and space opening up.
