Odor near Pike County (1994)
For six to eight months an elderly farmer and his wife reported nightly tapping that followed them room to room, shadows outside windows, a barn door torn open, missing dog food and missing outdoor dogs, and a low voice whispering the indoor dog's name. The responding deputy initially suspected neighbors, moonshiners or a grow operation, but later found a large hand-like dent in the house and an 18-inch footprint in the creek that he cast. The cast was later reported to show dermal ridges and to be considered authentic east of the Mississippi.
Good Samaritan has encounter near Liberty Hill
A driver stopped to help two motorists whose car had left the road after swerving to avoid a large hairy creature chasing a deer across the road. While fetching a rope from his truck to pull their car out, he walked directly into the creature standing behind his truck. He noted a foul smell, red eyes, and a low growl before it walked to the woods edge and then into the woods. He then helped move the car and continued his trip, shaken by the encounter.

Two men walking through very dense brush heard a loud roar-like sound ending in a high-pitched shriek. They then smelled a very strong foul odor and heard unseen brush movement, followed by a second, closer howl. Both men fled through the brush and exited about half a mile from where they entered. The account was relayed to the reporter by a relative of one participant, who said the participant remained frightened of that woods afterward.

The writer's brother was driving alone late at night on Skyball Mountain when he smelled a strong odor. He saw a large dark hair-covered figure in tall weeds beside the road that stepped onto the road and stared at him while he stopped and watched for a minute or more. He swam about 100 feet into a cavern, surfaced under the area used for bikes and horses, and encountered an overpowering stench that burned his eyes and made breathing hard.
